From the NYT Evening newsletter, headline reads "A.I. bots are often wrong, but they're set to reshape medicine". Highlighted text reads: "A new study published today found that A.I. chatbots were no better than Google at guiding users towards correct or helpful health advice. The technology sometimes presented false information or dramatically changed its advice depending on slight changes in the wording of the question. But A.I. has already proved quite good at other tasks, like at reading scans and images - better than many doctor, in fact."

This is a framing error, NYT. It's different technologies. Chatbots are not the same as the machine learning involved in reading scans (better defined inputs, clearer evaluation of outputs). Calling both AI is like conflating bombs dropped from planes with cars, because they both involve explosions.

examples of how tasks are separated into processes and work content, and skills are separated into experience level and work content

Tasks and skills are often seen as two sides of the same coin because they both describe what workers do, albeit from different angles. Therefore, we propose modelling them explicitly as such by splitting these broader, more abstract concepts into smaller parts.

We're investigating how publishers handle name changes and the barriers scholars face. If you've changed your name (or are considering it) and dealt with updating your academic publications, we want to hear from you.

Researchers who have changed their name for any reason, such as gender transition, marriage, divorce, immigration, cultural reasons, or citation formatting issues. Whether you've successfully updated your work, are currently trying, or decided not to because of barriers, your opinion matters.

Your input will help us advocate for better, more inclusive policies in academic publishing. It takes around 5-10 minutes to complete.
