In the North Pennines, we have vast expanses of land where you can find blanket bog peatlands. They consist of low-lying vegetation such as mosses and sedges and pools of standing water. #northpenninespeatlands #celebratingwetlands #peatlands #wetlands #peatlandsmatter
Not only do our peatlands support biodiversity, filter our drinking water and minimise the risk of floods downstream but also represent a key part of this placeβs identity. #northpenninespeatlands #celebratingwetlands #peatlands #wetlands #peatlandsmatter
