Have you ever signed up for a meetup talk to force yourself to learn a new tool, then run out of time? Couldn’t be me. I definitely didn’t just do that.
Anyways uv is cool

Ah that’s fair. Come to the dark side docs.astral.sh/uv/#publishi...
The website vs app split for Bluesky vs Threads captures the difference in user base and usage patterns beautifully.
Bluesky = knowledge sector workers who have it open all day in a tab next to their emails. “Wait what was I doing again?”
Threads = normies watching recipe videos on the commute.

Modern data stack in a sheet?
I actively avoided playing it for 9 years knowing it would suck me in. It got me in the end
I relapsed (re-downloaded Factorio) and it’s ruining my life (I’m having a great time)
I regret to inform you the Mark Zuckerberg acoustic version of Get Low goes at least a little hard

Who’s building the federated docs app?
(tbf I guess that’s what obsidian is but who’s using that for docs)
SQL loses the popular vote but wins the electoral college every time
This is a trick to get me to self-reflect, and I won’t fall for it

Are you telling me a data made this actionable insight?

This is MotherDuck propaganda!
But yeah you’re not wrong. I think it comes down to the skill sets of engineers right now. A good engineer can use terraform to stand up the whole data stack and build CI/CD with gh actions.
I imagine we’ll see the “smaller data revolution” soon enough with DuckDB.
Casey Newton wrote a bit about using it. He suggested connecting it to more than just articles/RSS and using the Ghostreader function. I haven’t taken the time to set it up yet but it’s on my to do list

Can we please stay here longer. My feed is data people and I’d prefer that over Leon’s Twitter. I’m only there to see the election results.
Bluesky is discriminating against left-handed people! (I keep hitting the “scroll-to-top” button when I’m scrolling on mobile :( )
Oh both look promising! Yeah the goal is note-taking away from my computer
What’s the best speech-to-text dictation app on iOS? I hear about apps like BetterDictation on macOS but is there anything as good for mobile?
Total engagement over my last 100 posts with a single query :)
I think @vickiboykis.com was the person in my Twitter feed to kick off an avalanche of data/ML/data science people coming to bsky. I’m loving all the new activity going on here

I still need to dig into this aspect of uv more to understand. I’m planning a blog post showing how it replaces the various Python package/project management tools

hi to all old friends from twitter!
i want to show you this thing: atproto-browser.vercel.app. put your bluesky handle in it and explore :)
this should give you some intuition about how this place works under the hood. happy to answer any questions about it!
Here’s a useful post from @danabra.mov that helped me understand 🦋 more bsky.app/profile/dana...
It’s essentially an attempt to recreate the metric.calculate() function from earlier versions of dbt
Has anyone seen cool things built on top of the dbt semantic layer yet? This package seems interesting medium.com/@dj.lemkes/h...
