Thinking of being brave and trying a new de/wm.
Suggestions? ^^
Everyone initially told me they wanted the installer to look good in any DE. Might ignored the adwaita hints :P
Think I've finally lost the plot

Serpent OS 0.24.5 (Alpha 1) has finally been released!!
serpentos.com/blog/2024/12...
The first alpha of our independent #opensource #linux distribution, featuring innovative atomic package management and tons of #rustlang components!

Little birdy told me an alpha is gonna drop soon for @serpentos.bsky.social
#sportsdirect doing a banging deal on runners: buy one, get NaN free
May now own the dell xps 15 from last gig, resplendent with nvidia gpu. Yay for serpent ^^
Would've been here already except the whole screen situation xD
Oh, and I was also core to Intel Clear Linux/ clear containers back in the day, and many years ago brought #LMDE into the world.
Chances are you've also come across my weirder efforts like Linux Steam Integration, when we forced gaming to improve via valve and porters.
I may have a sickness :3
Folks likely don't realise but the Serpent and Solus crews are tight and we're collaborating towards a more shared and tech debt free future ^^
I'm also the founder of @serpentos.bsky.social , a Linux distro built from the ground up with modern tooling, focusing on the hard delivery and design problems. New ISO dropping soon.
You might also know me from my #Solus and #Budgie days, as creator of both =)
Follow if you like cool stuff :P
Apparently we're doing the whole (proper) #introduction thing, I blame @soller.dev ^^
I'm Ikey Doherty. Yesterday was my last day at MZLA, where I was a Staff Software Engineer improving #Thunderbird. I'm also the guy that enabled #rustlang and a bunch of cool engineers to deliver better.
Time to start opening my mouth again I guess :))
Meanwhile, I'm working on a varlink based abstraction for our tooling, allowing a simple shim lib in C for integration in packagekitd, lichen, etc.
This ensures multiprocess magic and namespace use is unaffected, as well as retaining explicit async/tokio control in the moss process.
Our legacy D infra carries the old D impl of our binary format. The rust version is our canonical truth, where new features happen.
In parallel to this tarkah has enabled a C FFI bridge for external tools to understand our archive format, tested with libarchive.
If you find yourself dismissing the necessity of STL and decide a custom IPC is required... buy more bottles.
Having spent 20 months fighting polymorphism-induced nightmare fuel in mozilla-central and comm-central..
Good luck. XD
Seeing the work going on over at Red Hat with bootc, perhaps the guys would be interested in combining forces?
Spoken as creator of clr-boot-manager and the in-progress blsforme for #moss in @serpentos.bsky.social

Looking at C-A storage on non-vfat xbootldr next
The raw translation
No comment... :))
OK, we've formed a plan of action for versioned repositories. To facilitate the transition, we'll convert the currently used repo into an rsync target and repoint infra / tooling to new subdomain, enabling interim "syncs"
Then in time, new infra comes up, and old moss updated for versioning
So liberating to not post on the platform of that parasitic arserash anymore.
Shits starting to feel like a rerun of Continuum.
Anyway, I'm Ikey Doherty. I was never quiet, then I was, now I'm not. o_O
Founder of @serpentos.bsky.social, follow me for #rustlang, #linux and #opensource stuffs.
Cheers lol. Had an invite way back when but life got in the way ^^
