Do not underestimate the generosity of cardboard addicts sending you free shit! Random sleeves, basic lands, bulk rares & draft chaff, sometimes even whole decks! MTG players are kind and have way too much stuff lying around their house that they desperately need to get rid of.
It’s extremely expensive if you want it to be. I haven’t spent a cent on magic in four years. I play for free on Arena and I print proxies of cards I want for physical decks. But I spent soooo much money on it in the first two years of my obsession
It took me 2 weeks with 3 personal tutors to help me figure out the basics of MTG, having never played any video/card game more complicated than War/Tetris. If I can do it, I promise you can do it too.
But you don’t have to! It’s fun, but not for everyone, & obv not a requirement for being trans :P

I’m terrible at complicated rules, so I just literally never moved past the simplest level of playing.
I play lands to cast creature spells, and then turn the creatures sideways to deal damage to my opponent.
And I’ve been enjoying the game for almost 5 years now!
