NRC approves TerraPower construction permit
TerraPower had received a construction permit to build their Natrium reactor in WY! While they aren't the first advanced reactor to begin construction, they are first to get the green light on building a commercial reactor, not a demo or test facility.

My best guess is that they got information of the remaining U stockpiles and enrichment and somebody did some back of envelope math on βhow quickly could those feedstocks become a SQ of HEU?β Somebody wrote β2 weeks!β And here we are.
Reader: having SQ of HEU does not mean you have a nuclear bomb.

You know, I do think there should be more public dialogue about nuclear weapons in a world where stockpiles are expanding and arms control is all but gone. But not like this, man come on

βDetonationβ would technically include a test. DPRK probably decent odds of testing another nuke in the next year or two.

I honestly just realized that a nuclear weapon test would most likely qualify as βa nuclear weapon detonationβ for the purposes of resolving these bets.
Would a low yield test count? Another DPRK test? Are they relying on CTBTO data to determine the βwinnerβ.
These odds are too low. Unreal times.

A screenshot of the Polymarket website showing a prediction market titled "Nuclear weapon detonation by...?" under the Geopolitics and Ukraine categories. The market displays three betting options with their current probabilities and "Buy Yes" or "Buy No" prices: "March 31" at 5%, "June 30" at 12%, and "Before 2027" at 22%. The total trading volume shown is over $843,000.
Polymarket has created a betting market on the use of nuclear weapons. Everyone involved in this should be put in prison for life.

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

The βWestβ shortchanging Ukraine on interceptor systems led to a lot of unnecessary loss of life and infrastructure damage. It also made Ukraine find innovative ways to survive without relying on expensive western tech.

Surprised if Russia doesnβt start giving them Russia-built Shaheed clones just to deplete expensive interceptor stocks.
Ukraine should have prepared them (U.S. and Israel) but they didnβt think they had anything to learn.
