ICE arrested an Oregon shop owner who had her green card in her pocket: ‘They didn’t care’
Juanita Avila later helped expose ICE’s ‘arrest first, justify later’ tactics in a lawsuit that won a major victory for immigrants’ rights
NEW: ICE tackled + arrested Juanita Avila, an Oregon shop owner who is a legal permanent resident and had her green card in her pocket.
When she asked through sobs why they didn't believe her, one masked agent replied: “Because they lie all the time.”

I am frankly more concerned about the apathy of the American public and even more importantly the lack of leadership in the Democratic Party.
This is not a dress rehearsal. Every single American must speak out against this Facist administration.

A fox stops in my path
and studies me
with the cold patience of something
that knew this hillside before roads.
Eye to eye
his narrow amber blade
resting against the soft circle of mine.
He holds me there.
For a moment I feel it
my bones rearranging into something clumsy.
My breath too loud.
My bare skin foolish to the air.
A tall creature arguing with sky and ground.
He studies me a moment longer
before releasing my eyes.
As if I’m the creature
misplaced in time.

we are always
in dialogue
with six year old
versions
the stern
hides the sullen
the angry
guards the frightened
so when people ask
why I'm kind
I wink
and stick out my tongue

Toronto FC roll out red carpet for Josh Sargent: “He's a special player” | MLSSoccer.com
TORONTO – The message was big and unmistakably bold, splashed in large font across digital signs around Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday afternoon.
“When I first saw Josh, I don't know that I've hugged someone other than my wife like that in a long time.”
@torontofc.ca pulled out all the stops - over 22 million of them - to bring Josh Sargent back to North America.
Win, lose or faceplant, TFC swing big:

Rob Mac's Wrexham AFC will play at Subaru Park this summer
The Welsh soccer team, popular in Philadelphia and nationwide thanks to the 'Welcome to Wrexham' TV series, will face Sunderland of the English Premier League in Chester on Aug. 2.
Wrexham will return to Subaru Park this summer to play Sunderland on Aug. 2, as part of a three-game U.S. tour.
Liverpool and Leeds are also in the touring group. It could be the first time Brenden Aaronson plays for Leeds on U.S. soil:

Poem
In another life I was someone else.
I can remember everything,
but I don't understand any of it.
I don't speak the language.
My regressionist said that's not uncommon.
I don't feel as if this is helping me
decide whether to take the job in Denver.

Work has been insane, especially for the past couple of weeks, and I will never understand why organizational leadership insists upon demanding staff keep working as if business as usual when nothing in the larger world is normal right now.
