The web was always about human created content, linked together by humans. People talking to people. Every company vacuuming that up and barfing out ai slop is violating that contract.

Tweet by Jatin @jatinkmalik The reason why RAM has become four times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to place them in data centers that have not yet been built, powered by infrastructure that may never appear, to satisfy demand that does not actually exist and to obtain profit that is mathematically impossible
An infographic titled βHow To Write Alt Textβ featuring a photo of a capybara. Parts of alt text are divided by color, including identify who, expression, description, colour, and interesting features. The finished description reads βA capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on the top of the capybaraβs head.β Credit to Puzzle agency, original information from Veronica With Four Eyes and veroniiiica dot com
Iβm glad so many people have found my βcapybara methodβ for how to write alt text and image descriptions helpful! However, I know conflicting access needs exist and not everyone can write their own #AltText, so hereβs an ongoing thread of tools that can help. Inclusion in thread β endorsement
I'm still wishing for of a way to poison photos posted on my site to protect them from image scrapers and generative AI agents. I read about a project called Kudurru, but their site seems offline at the moment.
War, per Edwin Starr, remains good for absolutely nothing. (say it again)
You can feel all the feels, the joy of performing, and the craving for playing in front of an audience.
What a beauty (and what a time that was).

Still late to the party, still hooked on Sylvan Esso.
This is just glorious: a live recording of their full 2020 album Free Love, recorded with a full band during the pandemic.

The final Calvin and Hobbes, which appeared in papers 30 years ago today.
I love (and miss) the IndieWeb, and this is one of the most interesting things Iβve read in a while. Thanks, Courtney @courtneyr.dev! πβοΈ
Hello Courtney! I'm trying to open the link, but it's been returning a white page for a while now. I'll try again later, it seems interesting! π
Mine was "rhythm" for quite a while.
Isn't it a weird word to spell? :)

Iβve spent over a decade helping others learn to develop, create plugins, and extend #WordPress.
But Iβd never actually published my own plugin. That changed last week with something that drew me to contributing to the WP Training Team & #LearnWP years ago.

Looking back, this was the moment we should have realized the techbros were too rich and too stupid to be entrusted with any real power.
A picture of myself wearing a blue beanie and smiling at the camera while holding an Italian copy of Designing with Web Standards, a web development book by Jeffrey Zeldman. Every 30 November is Blue Beanie day, a day to celebrate and support web standards and accessibility. Yay!
November 30 is #BlueBeanieDay in Italy as well! βοΈ
Un giorno per ricordarci di supportare gli standard web e l'accessibilitΓ , i mattoni con cui costruire un web che metta ancora le persone prima di tutto il resto.
Have a happy one @zeldman.bsky.social!
Jeffrey Zeldman doll sporting a blue beanie (of course). Designed and manufactured by Dolls for Friends for my SXSW Interactive Hall of Fame party in 2012.
November 30 is #BlueBeanieDay, supporting web standards and accessibility, the building blocks empowering a people-first web.
Remember how good that web felt? It still does.
Join us! Pop on a blue beanie and smile.
