As the creator of this game I have to say that each band featured is a band my own dad listened to and made me listen to as a kid. I’m 45 years old now! My dad is also extremely dialed into today’s music, so I feel good about all of this. I just love this discourse!

They were part of the original list (of over 100 bands.) Ultimately, they were DQ’d bc we had to make some cuts and the other bands just got ranked higher.
But trust me; there was a ROBUST discussion about keeping them in.
Dad Rock isn’t born; Dad Rock just becomes. Any band can become Dad Rock with enough time and cultural shift. Just ask the 17.2% of voters who clicked “Sugar Ray”.
We also just had to make some choices to make things fit 😂
I would love to sit with you around a dwindling campfire and discuss this entire philosophy about “family rock” bc I also have thought 😂
