As we continue to honor the legends of Maple Leaf Wrestling, we reflect on the night of July 10, 1983, when Night of Champions took place at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. The entire card was star-studded, headlined by "Nature Boy" Ric Flair challenging NWA World's Heavyweight Champion Harley Race.
We couldn't celebrate MLP Legends without mentioning Jack Briscoe, who fought the likes of Ric Flair and Roddy Piper at Maple Leaf Gardens in the 1980s. In the 11 Maple Leaf Wrestling matches that Briscoe competed in, he recorded an impressive 9-2 record, only losing to Flair and Spiros Arion.

Throughout the six years that he competed in MLW, Sgt. Slaughter was often in pursuit of the NWA Canadian Heavyweight Title, with Angelo Mosca being his primary rival for the gold. In one of his most famous matchups, Slaughter defeated Mosca for the title at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto in 1983.
