You're killing it now, bro! ๐ฅ
If I could write my next book just for you specifically, I would ๐ I'm still going to write nonfiction, and it might be a good stretch for me to get a bit more personal & creative with it. ๐
No worries, I still greatly appreciate the share! ๐
I know it's information overload and emotional overwhelm. We're all feeling it. But I have to believe it's a creative opportunity to write differently rather than accepting that this burnout is a long-term or permanent thing. โค๏ธ
Soooooo good!!
I love that it actually feels pretty similar but more queer! I had such a fantastic time, did you?
Oh that's wonderful, thank you so much! ๐๐ป๐ It has done quite well, I'm very pleased, and happy people are still finding it!
Thank you so much, I have received a lot of very positive responses about it and I feel confident it won't disappoint! โค๏ธ
Oh hey this came up in my feed just as I've finally gotten to the point where I am familiar with the imagery and interpretations of a lot of the most popular decks, and looking to expand in more radical directions. Just bought "78 Acts of Liberation" and I can't wait to read it!
Oh rad, I'm so glad, thank you!
Aw, thank you! It's a book and not a deck. It includes a critical history of Tarot, focusing on the often overlooked race and class dimensions of its development & practice. And sort of uses Tarot as a mnemonic device for recalling lessons from social movements & my experiences as an organizer. โค๏ธ๐ค
Oh I always have and always will but writing for publication is something else, haha ๐ Much love to you, and l'll be getting a copy of your new book for me and one for my bestie ๐๐
This exact thing has stalled my writing in the worst way over the last year. I'm trying to evolve what it means for me to write nonfiction in a world where people don't want to read it; I think it can go in a creative direction that people will want to read & will be good for me, but damn ๐ฎโ๐จ
Say no more, I'm in! ๐ค
๐ฅฐ Whatcha working on, is it a secret? ๐
โบ๏ธ Thank you! ๐
But last night my date introduced me to a friend of theirs, and when I introduced myself to the person their friend was with, they were like "I know, I have your book." ๐ฑ
And I felt like pretty hot shit for a minute there! ๐ฅ๐บ๐ผ๐
I always preferred the "slums" of sci fi and fantasy, and my nonfiction niche is similarly lacking in respectability, which I fucking love. ๐ฅ Aaaand... I still kinda want to sit with the cool kids, lol.
I'm having a little bit of FOMO about the fact that there's a huge national writer's event in my city that I can't afford to go to #AWP, and I only got childcare for one free off-site event (last night). I also have some weird mixed feelings about not being a "Literary" writer.
The queerest of the queer in Baltimore packed the place (and I hadn't been to this joint since it used to be The Windup Space and it felt like home) - just absolutely the hottest group of people imaginable ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธโค๏ธโ๐ฅ
Last night's all-trans/NB offsite #AWP reading was amaaaazing! No doubt in my mind it was THE place to be - the pieces read were horny and weird, tender and freaky, violent and funny and emotional - seriously, nobody does it like trans women, much respect!! โค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธโค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธโค๏ธโ๐ฅ
Oooh, drag house dynasties are the thing that's been missing from fantasy fiction, and like most queer people I enjoy a story with a mother you're allowed to hate โ this looks good! ๐ฅ
The antiwar movement needed to be bigger and more militant between Vietnam and 9/11 for us not to be in the hole that allowed the Patriot Act, DHS, Blackwater, JSOC & ICE to make our work infinitely harder and put us in the even deeper hole we're in now.
When I was a wide-eyed 23-yo at my first protest, immediately after 9/11, it felt really unfair that the elder speakers were so frustrated, saying "where have you been?" I was brand new. But now I get it. They weren't talking to me, specifically. The antiwar movement NEEDED to be bigger, sooner.

It's snowing now and it's gonna be 74ยฐ on Sunday, happy spring.
Israel has just announced the closure of the crossings from the Gaza Strip, and this causes a sharp rise in prices there. Palestinians who are alive in Gaza still need to buy food, medicine, and other means of survival. Please donate to @hammam93.bsky.social if you can:

I've heard the crossings from Gaza are being closed again. How are you?
When every side is condemnable and condemning everything isn't enough, we can't afford to allow our creativity to atrophy โ we need it to survive and build beyond this.
