In the universe of AI, this Bill Bot is fairly useless. Yes, it raises awareness that something is happening. But no details about the bill except for summary. Bill Bot? More like Bill Not.

I think my dog, Mabel, is a bit worn out from all the dog play. And, Mabel? It’s not that cold in here. And don’t touch the thermostat!

Guess what happens when you ask for all of your tasks in AppleScript? You get them. All of them. Even the completed ones. Hmm.

When I lived there, β€˜76 to β€˜79, my parents lived across the street from Dwight White. Peach of a guy. Met quite a few players. My dad had seasons tickets from work so we got to go to quite a few games. Lived in New England but imma always gonna be a Steeler. But I gotta go Patriots this time. πŸ˜”

Geeky gadgety guy that I am has been toying with my new Pebble 2 Duo watch. I downloaded the SDK and created a watch face and a watch app. Now I’m thinking, the watch app that tracks my Apple Reminders could be much more. And just like that? I’m down another rabbit hole!

On a more positive note, when we gather up our dog to go to doggy daycare, she literally dances at the front door. It’s been decades since I was so excited about something. I need to work on that.

ICE raids and government sponsored violence will cause childhood trauma that will take decades to repair, if ever. Anyone in the mental health field care to correct me? I’m listening.

There’s something soothing and peaceful about bundling up on a cold, winter night, going down to your favorite pub then walking back home. In a city as busy as Chicago, neighborhoods can still offer an almost small town experience. And a darn fine Old Fashioned.

Snow. Then some more snow. It’s life in Chicago in January. It gets cold and snowy. I appreciate the seasonal change as they don’t last long. 3 months and pretty much done. Walking my dog, Mabel, amuses me. She enjoys snow. She shovels it with her nose. Makes me chuckle. And thankful.

The dove never moved and Mabel was just standing, wagging her tail vigorously. We have tall evergreens in front of the porch so I figured that the dove called that home and was just waiting for us to move along. We did. As soon as Mabel got in, she trotted to the window to see her friend. Good day!

I took my dog Mabel for a walk. Returning, we reached our front porch and she stopped… then stared to the left. On a window sill, a mourning dove perched. The dove didn’t move or seem frightened. Just probably cold and resting. Mabel walked up towards the window then stood and investigated.

I live in Chicago. The snow that fell today reminded me so much of New England. Big, fat snowflakes gently falling. A snowfall that makes you want a hot cup of cocoa then sit and just watch. Peaceful and covering up the ugly out there. I love these winters. I hate this administration. Peace all.

On this day in 1910, Joy Adamson was born free. Don’t know her? She wrote the book, β€œBorn Free”. Not read it? You should. Or watch the movie but I thought the book was better.

This is Tuesday, right? Trying to keep up with all the BS coming from this administration throws off my internal calendar.

Mac didn’t stay too long. An inadvertently slightly open window beckoned him onwards. Later that night, he stopped by again. I tried to entice him in but he just flipped his tail then scampered off to whatever adventure he was taking. I always liked to think he stopped by just to say so long.

Years ago I had 2 cats, Mac and Tosh (I did a lot of work for a company that sold products for the Apple Mac). Both of them embraced the aura of β€œcat”. At Christmas, Tosh was frequently ensconced and napping in one of the tree branches while Mac napped at the bottom. And they both slept on me.

Cats versus dogs. I’ve had both. They are unique pets. My cats were stealthy. If I moved, at least one would lay on my keyboard. Dogs? Not so much but different. If I moved, my dogs would eagerly hop up and expect to go out. Cats would just yawn, waiting for food.

Are there lessons there?

Christian nationalists love to point out how we are going to hell. I guess that’s to hope they won’t be lonely.

Dogs remind us daily to be joyful. Not because there isn’t pain and suffering it despite it. Dogs meet us with wagging tails. They go for walks and relish every moment. Even sleeping, if you give them a bit of attention, they desire more.

Let’s be more dog-like.

But I’ll never forget him. He will forever be in my thoughts. Even if those thoughts surface because of a cold, snowy day.

A few months later, two of those in that group would hike the same area, just enjoying nature and taking photos. One of them peered over the falls, slipped and fell. He died that day. He lived in the room across from me at the university but I can’t say we knew each other a lot.

Sometimes ancient memories surface. Small things seem to trigger them. Today, it’s a cold snowy day. Similar to a day long ago when I and a small group of friends walked through a nearby forest. We were in college and bored so went for a hike. Came across a creek that had a small waterfall.

But in great angst, there can still be calm thoughts. This is the before and after of my first real job… dishwasher at the Guernsey Cow ice cream and restaurant in Exton, Pennsylvania USA. I sometimes miss the area. Capitalism killed it.

I know that bombardment of social posts in the point of this administration. If you are inundated with new outrage then you can’t deal with the outrage you already have. Stay focused. All of us can choose our outrage. Times the population, we’ve got this covered. You don’t have to carry the burden.

Screw Rick Scott. Anything he spews is NOT in your interest. Doubt me? Just review his proposed legislation or his views.

(2) As the big guy with graying fur lumbered up, stuffing cookies into its crooked arm, my sis-in-law was gleeful to see the critter. Did the critter scamper off once it collected the booty? Yes. Did it come back every night there after? Also yes. No moral to this story. Just story.

(1) Years ago when we were in high school, my sister-in-law decided that the old raccoon that hung around our property was cute. So she set out a trail of Oreo cookies leading from the back yard into our garage then up to the door. She was thrilled to see the critter wander up to the door.

TIL, djo of the song β€œEnd of Beginning” is Steve Harrington in β€œStranger Things”. Will wonders of the world never cease? This man is intensely talented. (And no, I’m not saying this because I’m from Chicago. Well, possibly.)
