I lived on a food stamp budget for a week for a social policy class. It was possible but it took a lot of time and energy to plan, buy and cook mostly from scratch. Lots of beans and rice, which I like, but not more days than not. I didn’t have kids, job/housing insecurity, transportation concerns.

So will local police arrest them?
