- DEFRA UK Air - GOV.UK

Responding to the DEFRA wood burning consultation β Mums for Lungs
Read our guidance on how to respond to DEFRAβs wood burning consultation - deadline 19th March. This is a critical moment to get your voice heard by the government.
The government is consulting on reducing emissions from burning right now. But the consultation does not match the health evidence. It deals with future emissions and will do nothing for the current situation that blights neighbourhoods.
Respond by 19th March asking for action on current burning!

a copy of today's Oxford Times. Headline: "School street fines prompting concern - 'Council should not be raising revenue' "
"Council should not be raising revnue" from school streets. May I remind the editor of our local newspaper that the only reason they are is because drivers choose to ignore the restrictions that were put in place to PROTETCT CHILDREN from getting hurt or killed outside their schools.

New wood-burning stoves to carry health warnings in UK plan
Pollution from wood burners kills thousands but proposed emissions limit would cut toxic particles by 9%
DEFRA has just published a consultation on solid fuel burning. We're happy to see a long-term campaign ask addressed - warning labels on stoves. However, the proposals will only impact future emissions; they will do nothing to help all those affected by existing burning. #CleanAirNight #WoodBurning

Weβve been urging the government to commit to stronger targets for years, so we're pleased that the government has finally listened.
The devil is in the detail. #AirPollution is largely below these levels already across the country and is still making hundreds of thousands of people sick.

Cutting air pollution budgets by 99% at a time when children are still breathing illegal & toxic levels of dirty air is indefensible.

Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.
Common sense.
Such a no-brainer, itβs remarkable that more cities HAVENβT done the same.

This is exactly what the leader of a diverse and vibrant city like London should say. Thank you Sadiq.

Mercedes-Benz will let you use an in-car camera in Microsoft Teams while driving
The all-new CLA gets this first
Talking on a mobile phone while driving, even hands-free, gives you similar reaction times as a drunk driver.
So it seems quite insane to take it one step further and integrate Microsoft Teams video calling into a car's in-built system.

Our report 'A breath of fresh air' highlights evidence on the increased range of health impacts linked to air pollution.
The government needs to treat #airpollution as a serious & preventable health risk.

Dieselgate: the sequel β Mums for Lungs
Car manufacturers must be held to account - our new analysis shows a shocking number of the most polluting diesel cars are still on UK roads, 10 years after Dieselgate.
Want to know why we keep talking about #DirtyDiesel?
1. Manufacturers likely fitted cars with emissions defeat devices.
2. We bought the cars in good faith.
3. There are now millions of cars emitting suspiciously high levels of #AirPollution on our roads.
4. Nothing is being done about it.
