19 years ago we held a band practice, which was I believe, an audition tape for the high school Battle of the Bands. My recollection is that this pic is from that. My memory is fuzzy. This would have been taken in between “Jumping the Shark” and “Advanced at Nothing.”

I simply saw the article go up, thought “better make posts about that,” and quickly did so without looking at the text very carefully. I apologize for posting content that was reflective of me taking credit for another artists’ work. (4)
This error wasn’t caught before screenshots of the text were posted. I was dealing with the delivery of the Left at London vinyl at the time the article went up, and because vinyl delivery days tend to be quite hectic - (3)
The Bandcamp article originally had text that credited me (Jace) for the art and design of the Steamed Hams cassette by Marc With a C. This was misinformation— the art for that album was done by Catherine Blackard. (2)

Lemon describes Needlejuice’s OK Glass releases as “very lyrically substantial while also being comedic at times,” but “maybe a little less comedic” than the label’s usual output. That’s hard to believe, given how Sand (and other mysteries) kicks off with morbidly funny and verbose songs about setting car bombs on Christmas, chemtrails (and biblical floods and alien invasions), and a brief bout of hypochondria. Whether bearing down on his piano in a song addressed to Calvin Coolidge or pausing for a Beach Boys-ian choral harmony in “Bagworm,” Joe Jakubowski sounds like the most McLuhanist and well-read lunatic in the chamber pop asylum, capable of killing, say, The Divine Comedy with a single blow. Last April, Needlejuice released his EP Sampler, a three-song treatise on art under capitalism without the plethora of samples that rendered his full-length record Same ineligible for streaming services. This being OK Glass, such a treatise involves him screaming the text of the standard copyright notification over a drum solo. Legalese has never been funnier. –Elle Carroll
