The press pool has changed dramatically. Half of them are now sympathetic sycophants who’ve been given access they’ve never had before. The other half (“legacy”) are too afraid of losing access so they very rarely push back.
Unpopular opinion… if midterms were held today, the GOP would retain control of both chambers of Congress. And it’s not that Dems don’t have decent messaging or policy. They do. It’s that not enough voters care. And the majority of those who do, like what they see.
I’m super unsure what we look like as a nation after four years of this. It’s only been seven months and the damage to our institutions, norms, and checks and balances is overwhelming.
