Learning from leeks
Where thereβs smoke, thereβs fire. I need some smoke in my drawings and looking to Hiroshige, who makes it look easy when itβs anything but.

βYou are the Lake of my Seeingβ, Color pencil on paper. An ongoing project with units of pictorial space rearranged. This is one iteration. To be included in a solo exhibition at Moberg Gallery in April.
Join me this Thursday, February 6, from 6:30 to 8pm at the Polk County Heritage Gallery in Des Moines for the opening of, Augural.
The two works Iβm showing are tracings of my body, my sons, and partner. It is the shape of their absence. Works are represented by Moberg Gallery.
Seasonal repetitions, cycles of dormancy and renewal and their disruptions. Darker themes are present, though my palette more often than not is bright. This one at least has grey and cool blues.
To be included in an April exhibition ruminating on repetition and its manifestations @moberggallery
Itβs a beauty
The beast continues to fight me hard and a double thatβs just beginning.
I love seeing this beginning.
There is an historical landscape composition where an ellipse of water scoops in from the edge of the picture taking us from the front of the picture plane to the back. Itβs a unit of space that can be mirrored, flipped and repeated. It is like a measure of time.
βThe real witch hunt is here.β
No filter or strange lens just viewing the drawing from the side. The paper is flat on the wall, but those lines confuse perspective.
Yes!
Works in progress.
