I’m working on a perk system (video game project) that includes bonuses to rolls when at a skill-check moment of dialogue or interaction. Threads like these are nice to see. Madness shared, it seems. 😅

Hah, each time I post a question, I see it appear in another post of yours already. Not sure why they aren’t all displayed when reading through the thread. 😂

Is the system you are aiming at developing including black and white pass/fail checks, or are you considering something like:
• Hard Fail (worst outcome)
• Soft Fail (negative, but less serious)
• Success (pass/no issue)
• Critical Success (pass w/ bonus)

Sort of..? I might be wrong, but here are my 2c:

Group Punishment - If the whole group gets in trouble for one bad actor, that will cause in-fighting. Kids vs Kids.

Group Reward, but fell short of goal - this might be more subjective. More gray area for where the goal posts are. Kids vs Teacher.

Making a plan, even a basic one, gives you guidance on the direction needed. Pseudocode (common language of “need player input here when X happens”) is super helpful. Just talking it out on paper can help avoid potential problems. Using sticky notes for components/systems is also useful.

I think you may want to revisit the Night scene palette. There are a lot of warm tones (reds) that you’d want to shift to more cool tones (blues)… and the higher alpha greens on the units might need to be brought down some. The daytime is fine, and I like your style!

They look legit. More polished than a lot of published games.

First of all, love your work.

Secondly, I feel like the chibby-style squid faces could be an entire thing on their own. They really have a lot of potential, especially in today’s market.

Nice! From what you’ve shown here, you can totally do that.

I think you’re on to something amazing with this!

Love some particle effects

A little glow effect or slight color change to the dice, when selected may enhance the already solid feel. That or some drippy particles falling off from them… or perhaps only when they roll a _max# for that dice type.

Particles are gewd.

But also, this is a pretty neat mechanic, along with the visuals. 😊

This is actually cute AF. I love the look of the characters. Nice work.

Looks amazing! Might be neat to add a shotgun style electro-gun (short range spray, wide arc)

Zombieville USA 3D on Steam Welcome back to Zombieville, where arcade survival action and hilarious stylized visuals combine to eat your brains! Choose your weapons, grab a friend, and blast your way through the endless hordes!

Zombieville 3D has over 4000 wishlists now, yay!

This will be my 8th indie game, but my first as a PC-first release, so I’m extra nervous. Feels like starting over again. Really hoping it does well enough that a game #9 happens. 😊
