When you have an audience or a business you have to ensure that you always provide a lot more value to people than you extract from them. If you don't then, long term, it all breaks down.

Sure, dinner and a film is fine, but can we please normalize bookstore dates, cemetery picnic dates, museum dates, library dates, and stargazing dates?
I don't want to see Ai slop anywhere, but especially not in craft feeds. Impossible crochet in impossible rooms that look like the Sears catalog circa 1986.
But in all likelihood, it will. Because this is capitalism and the current commodity, especially on platforms like this, is our attention.
In early Instagram and Facebook days, those platforms were more like this one. What keeps BlueSky from devolving into short form ad-driven AI slop? I really am very curious.

Two memorials in the past week, both for people younger than me. My heart is heavy. But tea is steeping, family is out of the house, and I have a quiet moment to light a candle and do my own thing.

If you feel powerless, you really should channel that energy into community strengthening and support. It can be as simple as searching "(your city)+mutual aid". Start there. The most valuable thing you can give is your time, volunteer for a reputable org and make a difference where you can.
