One thing that isn’t talked about enough is how closely tied disability can be to homelessness. Many disabled people are forced into poverty in order to keep their medical benefits. By doing so, the income they receive isn’t enough to live off of. This isn’t a moral failing, it’s the system’s fault.

The gap between our reality & what our friends/ family understand is one of the hardest parts for me. Why am I also responsible for educating them (often they fight back as if I’m sharing opinions vs facts) on top of being my own medical provider & researcher? Media, govt, society failed us. 😱
