Our photo shows a freshly made home-cooked Philly cheesesteak sandwich laid open on a baking tray, just out of the oven.

The sandwich is made with four long sections of crusty white bread, each piece split open and arranged side-by-side on a sheet of slightly crinkled baking parchment.

The parchment sits on a dark metal oven tray, suggesting the sandwiches have just been baked or toasted.

Each piece of bread is generously piled with thinly sliced, browned beef steak that looks tender and slightly crispy at the edges. Mixed among the meat are soft, caramelised onions, their golden-brown strands glistening from cooking.

On top of the meat and onions is a thick layer of melted cheese, a mix of pale white and warm yellow. The cheese has melted into the beef, forming stretchy, glossy patches that cling to the meat and drip slightly into the bread.

In some spots it has lightly bubbled and browned, giving a toasted, appetising texture.

The bread itself looks lightly toasted, with crisp edges and a soft interior that has soaked up some of the juices from the meat and onions. The fillings are piled generously, almost overflowing the bread.

The background is dark, likely a stovetop or kitchen counter, which makes the sandwiches stand out brightly in the foreground.

The overall feeling of the image is warm and hearty, like a tray of rich, freshly baked cheesesteaks ready to be served straight from the kitchen.

Finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

Thank you Alex mate. Was a lucky find. Thought it was a tiny twig until it moved.
Ended up spending a little while watching it navigating the huge sand dunes of tiny divots in the sand.
Hope you're having a lovely week my friend ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค—

Apparently dandelion, docks and ragworts in this area but I'd not spotted any plants on its path so this little one was hard-core. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ

She had not slept. Not really. The kind of not-sleeping where you are horizontal and still, but some part of you remains stubbornly awake, listening, to the house settling, to the particular quality of darkness that exists in the last hour before dawn.

At some point she gave up and went to the window.
The trees were black. Every one of them, the tall conifers at the edge of the field, the bare-limbed birches stripped of every leaf, flattened into pure, featureless dark. No wind moved them. They simply stood, as they always had, indifferent to the hour.

But above them the sky was burning slowly, quietly, in a way that had nothing to do with fire. A deep charcoal blue at the top, the kind of blue that is almost not a colour at all, almost just the memory of night. Then lower, softening, a grey with something greenish in it, something oceanic, and then the warmth beginning, amber first, tentative, like the colour of old honey held up to a weak light. And then, compressing toward the horizon, the red. Not a gentle red. A concentrated, saturated vermilion, a ribbon of it, running the length of the world just above the treeline.

The sun was still well below the earth. All of this colour was simply what happened to light traveling the greatest possible distance through cold, dry air to reach her. Refracted. Scattered. The blue wavelengths lost somewhere over the horizon, and only the long, slow reds surviving the journey.

She thought about the year turning. The equinox was close, and each morning the darkness felt thinner than the last, more provisional, as though night were slowly losing its confidence. The trees were still bare, their branches fine and intricate against the glow, a tracery that would vanish in a few weeks when the leaves closed everything off. For now they were open. Honest in the way things are only honest before they bloom.

Some mornings ask to simply be witnessed.

Good morning with a pic I shot at 6 oโ€™clock today. It felt special to watch the sky. Thereโ€™s a story about that in the ALT text.

The sky is covered in broad, unstructured sweeps of pink and yellow cloud alternating with blue sky. Below, the plains are still dark with the notable exception of a large lake which reflects the sky, forming a bright patch in the darkness. Eucalypt silhouettes frame the picture across the top and to the left and below.

A circular small glass-walled building housing a bakery cafe, set in a town square, people enjoying the early March sunshine at outdoor coffee tables and chairs. In the background, buildings that go back a century or so, pedestrians walking in the square.

It was tiny, less than an inch long, and it had made a huge journey to get to where it was on the beach and had a very long way to go looking for somewhere to pupate. Enjoyed an interesting moment watching and pondering over it.
