On Bandcamp, Corpus is the most popular song, which makes sense since it's the first track on the album and the one I've been promoting along with the record.
Some interesting things from my statistics for the first couple weeks of Static Skin.. First, thanks to everyone who's taken the time to listen, and bigger thanks to everyone who's bought the record! I really appreciate it!

To that end, we have the track "Fail" from my first record "Fall of the Empire", which has non-squelchy fake 303 all over it. You can hear it in the verses, and it's also layered in the heavy synth part that underpins the chorus.

We all know it for that squelchy acid thing it does, but it's also a pretty awesome little bass machine with a little more versatility than people give it credit for.
Corpus is a dark, moody track with a heavy, impactful chorus and a sort of S&M vibe to the lyrics. I'm happy to have worked with Lail Brown again on this track, and he delivered a great vocal to round out the track.

It's been a minute since I really listened to Alice In Chains' Facelift. Killer from start to finish. I've been a big fan of the new AIC stuff and it's made me forget how great the old stuff is just a little.
You're doing great, keep at it.
It's hard for me to not get triggered when people on social media start dictating conditions for how artists package and promote their music when support for indie musicians is so fucking hard to come by in the first place.
So yeah, buy more music so we have money to hire artists.
What's disingenuous is acting like it's so easy to ignore the financial implications for people who are already going into debt to try to put our art out there into the world. Believe it or not I still know artists who wind up homeless or sleeping on friends couches in their 50s.
Rationalize what? I've already made the decision to use a human artist. You're the one who said "make the smart financial decision" and I'm saying most of us lose money on our releases already.
Do you think that by punishing them financially they'll magically have a bigger art budget for their next release?
I'm all for supporting humans over AI but laying this at the feet of the bands is misguided and misplaced.
It's sad that you'd just dismiss the countless hours an artist spends perfecting their craft and putting their soul into something only for you to slam the door in their face because they can't afford art.
I paid $220 on Fiverr. I contacted a number of artists in the industrial scene and they were between 3x and 25x the cost.
I hired a human artist because it was the right thing to do, but ultimately I was only able to do that because I can afford to lose money on my passion. Most artists are not so fortunate.
I agree with your sentiment but you need to direct this at the buying public, not artists going into debt to produce and promote music only to be told at every turn to give our work away for "opportunity" or "promotional value".
The smart financial choice? Follow up with me in 6 months and I'll let you know if I recouped the money I spent on a human artist. I spent over a thousand dollars on art and promotion for my next release and I fully expect to lose most of it.
