Bill C2 from Carney’s government quite literally allows the Canadian government to share your data with the USA with no warrant, without telling you. Parts of the bill appear to quite literally be written by the US.

Carney is selling you out.

Canada’s working on a law that would make you ineligible for asylum if you visit the country (even as a tourist). If you’re part of a group that’s a target of #maga you should unfortunately keep that in mind in case you need to leave the US

PSA for trans Americans: you can enter Canada by land without a valid passport if you have other documentation proving US citizenship. And you probably should.

One of my favourite books of all time. Disturbingly prescient both in its world building and in people’s reactions to their world.

'We will not hesitate': Canada prepares to hit U.S. with billions in tariffs β€” The Canadian Press Ottawa is ready to retaliate if U.S. president-elect Donald Trump slaps Canad

Melanie Joly might be the only person in the world with the power to destroy Trump. His supporters don’t care about truth or justice or democracy, but they sure as fuck care about the price of energy.

I can't put into words just how much rage I feel towards Biden. His hubris and arrogance to run for reelection led us to this moment. He was the wrong president at the worst time. His failures will stay with us for decades and will ultimately destroy this country by allowing a fascist takeover.

Fanta was created so coke could sell soda in nazi Germany around a trade embargo. IBM sold the machines that were used to track and tabulate holocaust victims. Henry Ford inspired Hitler. Big business has always collaborated with fascism. Today's businesses are bastards who are no different.

Yeah. I didn’t know about it at the time, but I’m honestly pretty embarrassed that we accepted them as a sponsor in the first place. Crimes like that can’t be apologized for - they should mean the company ceases to exist.

A while ago I volunteered for a queer student group at my university. One of our sponsors was BASF, a chemical engineering company, and they cancelled their sponsorship after Trump won in 2016. They also did, ahem, *chemical engineering* for the Nazis in WWII. Go figure.

four grainy, desaturated old video stills, first a conservatively styled woman with red hair smiling at the camera, second a hand reaching into the frame to slam a pie in her face, third a man holding his hands up looking grim, fourth the woman again with her head in her hands, full of pie

The image is from a "Transparency Center" document and lists guidelines regarding acceptable and prohibited content for insults. It mentions:

1. Insults about:

Character, such as cowardice, dishonesty, criminality, and sexual promiscuity or immorality.

Mental characteristics, including but not limited to accusations of stupidity, intellectual capacity, and mental illness, as well as unsupported comparisons among politically correct (PC) groups based on inherent intellectual traits.

2. Highlighted section:

The document allows allegations of mental illness or abnormality when tied to gender or sexual orientation, referencing political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality. It also acknowledges the non-serious use of terms like "weird."

Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.

I'm heartbroken to hear the news about The Vivienne, she was a queer breakthrough talent the likes of which we haven't seen before and was an inspiration to so many including myself. I hope her family and friends are doing alright during this difficult time ❀️

She’s pretty broadly liked across Canada, and her nomination would signal a big enough shift from Trudeau to give the libs a chance in the election

I’m not fully joking. Her politics are mostly aligned with the liberals but with more (i.e. non-zero) commitment to the working class and the environment.
