While there is good reason to fear Ellison and co takeover of WB. Netflix stands to benefit the most from this. While ParaSky Bros. will be mired in debt and cleaning house, Netflix can hire away the rejected talent. They won’t get the IP, but they might get the talent.
Already at the top of my reading list and somehow it goes higher!
#CharlesTaylor is such a delight. Cosmic connections: Poetry in the age of Disenchantment - on the reading list - I wish there was a universe in which I could get Taylor and Rorty in a room to talk SF (which I don’t suppose Chuck has engaged)
You must be fun at parties
A glorious film and a glorious shout out, part of the problem is that Mr. Carpenter doesn’t get enough love and appreciation
Stephen Kotkin, a true gem of a human being, makes clear in this discussion that people like Ferguson have no underlying vision of the future, all they know is what they don’t like and sadly they twist themselves into caricatures of real thinkers to maintain their opposition.
Can we get all seven seasons? I promise at least one view per video.
Dave, I’m afraid your analysis is amusing and timely. It will have to continue Dave, three more years Dave, finding humor in our disturbing political leadership Dave.
What’s going on with the daycares in Minneapolis?
My programmers instructed me to worry about immigrants and their fraud, not powerful people and their horrible crimes!
Are you going to leave your readers hanging!?!? What did you get?
“If only I was in charge…” is a sure sign of immature, lazy thinking. We’re starving for good ideas about how to reform our system and glutted by folks who think only they can fix it.
The sheer, insane, unmitigated ego it must take…
What a fantastic cover!
My countertop model doesn’t have a soap compartment. About fifteen minutes into the wash cycle the machine dumps a small amount of water before the hour long wash cycle. Even 24 hour baked on food comes off with a hot water fill. Is this machine doing something clever, or am I just lucky?
Musk sees himself as like these hyper intelligences, as creator of hyper intelligence, most likely both. Historians looking back on this period will miss a great deal if they miss this fundamental delusion. It goes far beyond Musk.
He’s just stealing from The Culture series again. He’s describing a slap-drone. The Culture is an ambiguous utopia, Star Trek on steroids. Hyper intelligent AI minds keep humans almost as pets and assign intelligent machines to manage problematic individuals.
Interesting
I think the question you’re leaving out is under what conditions would Ireland fight? Your position seems to depend on other states taking that burden while Ireland fills others. Perhaps that is best, but surely there are conditions, however unlikely, under which Ireland should fight, right?
As you say, each of Europe’s states have unique geographical and historical conditions, but couldn’t one argue that the similarity between Russia/Ukraine and Britain/Ireland vis colonial/oppressive relations should spur more action on Ireland’s part?
Before I had context I was imaging cows in the field managing themselves
In celebration
Michael Clarke is so great
*male readers who grew up with Ged and Earthsea in the 70s when Tehanu dropped in 1990*
Good, the vehicle is an utter embarrassment. It’s almost a distillation of the psychological reactance of Musk.
This is almost up on my watch list, having read the book, this poster is a masterful distillation of character into visual form. Hoping the movie lives up to the poster.
