Terrorizing immigrants has a long history in the US. In 1855 the nativist Massachusetts legislature appointed a "Nunnery Committee." They "investigated" (i.e., terrorized) a convent school in Roxbury and Irish children there. Only 7 of about 20 men raiding the school were official committee members.
