A woman with pale skin, white hair in two braids, and delicate gold tattoo on her face floats in the night sky with a full moon and starry sky behind her. She is wearing a thigh length purple dress with long sweeping sleeves. There are glowing blue lines etched on the fabric of the dress, and two ribbons of light with geometric patterns are trailing behind her. A ring of magic with glowing orbs is circling around her as she floats.

Commission work done for YeetMaur

A dark skinned man with dark brown hair and a beard framing his jaw, dressed in a white robe and dark brown pants crouches with one hand on the ground as he swings at demons with his katana. The enemy demons are dressed in red rusting armor that looks worn and damaged. The scene is set in a bamboo forest with a path cutting through it, red banners on either side of the road. It appears to be in the afternoon, with a rich orange glow streaming in between the bamboo.

Forgive yourself:

For not creating when you want to.
For abandoning your creative self.
For judging your ideas.
For taking a break from art.
For all of it.

Forgive so you can make the choice to create anew.

There isn't only one path to creative success.

Stop doing what others are doing if doing that makes you unhappy.

I've been teaching art for years.

What holds you back isn't your inability to learn theory.

It's a lack of:
- Clarity of your goal & WHY you want it
- Belief in yourself
- A simplified roadmap
- More action, less overthinking
- More objective analysis of your mistakes

Show up to draw.

Notice what went well/what didn't work without judgement.

Reflect on your mistakes. Grab reference and try again.

Celebrate your wins. Sincerely acknowledge your efforts.

Rinse and repeat.

Believing your relationship with art should always make you feel good is like expecting a long-term relationship to be all honeymoon phase. Unrealistic, unhealthy, and setting you up for disappointment.

๐Ÿงต Showing up for your art on bad days helps:

Unsure what to study? ๐Ÿ‘‰ Draw from memory and study what's hard.
Want to draw faster? ๐Ÿ‘‰ Simplify subjects into memorable shapes.
Need more detail? ๐Ÿ‘‰ Use reference.
Stuck in a frustration loop? ๐Ÿ‘‰ Get feedback.
Struggling with proportions? ๐Ÿ‘‰ Compare elements as you draw.

Small bursts (30 minutes) of consistent art study is more effective and sustainable than grinding for hours.

You'll remember more, have time to process the information before you next use it, and won't feel like you just punished yourself creatively.

In drawing, you will inevitably hit a wall.

Things were working out, you were feeling excited and then... dread.

Why can't you draw anymore? Why is everything frustrating?

This is the moment RIGHT before you see improvement. Don't stop.

1) Fear of uncertainty
2) Skills aren't where they should be/ isn't good enough
3) Not having an organized schedule/ not learning other skills fast enough

Out of all the artistic work you've made, which one is your favorite?

True creative (and personal) growth happens when you shift your energy towards finding solutions, not just dwelling on whatโ€™s not working.

Focus less on what you canโ€™t do and instead focus on how you can approach the problem from another angle.

Art isnโ€™t about perfection. Itโ€™s about persistence.

The doodles you hate today teach you how to create the masterpieces youโ€™ll love tomorrow.

If you keep doodling, the masterpiece will happen naturally.

Consider the power of drawing daily for 30 minutes:

- 30 minutes of drawing a day = 15 hours a month
- 15 hours of drawing a month = 1 full illustration
- 1 full illustration monthly = 12 illustrations a year

Your portfolio is going to start filling up pretty quickly.

Fear stops us from creating.

Fear of failure.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of wasting time.
Fear of being misunderstood.

But what are you more afraid ofโ€”staying stuck or finally stepping out of your comfort zone and getting results?
