Am I The Problem?
I always wanted to play games with my son. But recently, Iβve started to wonder if Iβm doing more harm than good.
"I always wanted to play games with my son. But recently, Iβve started to wonder if Iβm doing more harm than good." A really great essay from @ravi64.com about how children perform (or don't) when they're around their parents www.crossplay.news/p/playing-po...

yeah, my other big thing is that when I'm scrolling at the timeline and have access to my Kindle, I try to put the phone down and read 10 pages instead

My "read 15 minutes on my Kindle at the end of the night at least Monday through Thursday" has gotten me through three books this year so far, though I will admit to being a fast reader. That's two more books than I've read in a single year in the last 15 years probably

Two Best Friends and a Naive Dream: Make a Cinematic Platformer
A fateful meeting at school and an evocative drawing would eventually lead two longtime friends to try something audacious. The result would be Planet of Lana.
My latest for @remapradio.bsky.social is an interview with two friends from middle school who decided, decades later, to try (and for a while, fail!) to make a game. The result was the delightful cinematic platformer Planet of Lana, whose sequel is out today. My story remapradio.com/articles/two...

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I doubt The Pitt emphasizes far right talking points insomuch as it ditches its "subtext is for cowards" moralizing that would interfere with right wing talking points

Also, The Pitt continues to be excellent. No notes. Well, maybe some notes about how they clearly pulled punches about the sub plot involving ICE.

Ep. 102 - Are we DTF with 'DTF St. Louis?' (Plus: βThe Pittβ S2E09 and the Importance of Empathy)
Podcast Episode Β· Decoding TV Β· March 6 Β· 1h 42m
I like everything about the pitch for HBO's DTF St. Louis, but the pilot is basically two different showsβa Tim Robinson-esque comedy about male loneliness, before it becomes...a murder mystery? I am befuddled but curious on Decoding TV podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

Remap Interview: Love Eternal
Why is Love Eternal putting so much effort into a story many players might not experience? Patrick talked with Love Eternal designer Toby Alden to find out.
If you're intrigued by LOVE ETERNAL, or if you've finished it, this is a very insightful conversation between @patrickklepek.bsky.social and @brlka.com about its origins, inspirations, and the overall philosophy behind designing it. I want more people to play this game! @remapradio.bsky.social

I think RE1's remake ends up bringing the whole thing full circle! RE1 closes the book on the remake project, RE10 sets up RE's new era

It really feels like RE9 is setting up a soft reboot, while the remakes will keep the "classic" RE feel alive

Pet theory, based on how RE9 plays out: One important goal of Capcom's RE remake project is a new canon to the series that creates better through lines and more cleanly sets up RE for another era of games.

The one thing I'd like to see is something akin to Monster Hunter Stories? Smaller scale, lower budget, a slight genre shift. Feel like RE could support that pretty easily.

I honestly think they're settling into an interesting rhythm of trying to crack how you keep feeding a AAA franchise against impossible budgets and years between pillar sequel releases. Plus, the remakes are largely good. It'd be way different if they sucked.

A Father and Daughter's Review of PokΓ©mon Pokopia
In which Patrick and his nine-year-old daughter put on their critic hats for Nintendo's cozy new PokΓ©mon video game that's all about, well, tasks.
For @crossplayblog.bsky.social, I recruited my nine-year-old daughter to help me review PokΓ©mon Pokopia, a new cozy game whose deliberately slow pace feels like a balm in today's anxious times www.crossplay.news/p/pokemon-po...
