Declaring "Mission Accomplished" - that always works out well for US Presidents

Nah, can't be right. Dementia Donnie told us a couple of hours ago that the war was "already won".

Get ready to be annoyed when petrol prizes go up and a) a bunch of politicos declare the government's poll ratings have gone down because Starmer didn't go in with the US on Iran and b) a bunch of politicos who support the war blame the government for increased energy costs.

The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East. That's OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don't need them any longer - But we will remember. We don't need people that join Wars after we've already won! President DONALD J. TRUMP

I think, as LazyTitan pointed out above, there are some inevitably unavoidable elements to the policy. However, those are typically areas we, as a party, would deal with sensitively. Instead, Mahmood's performative bollocks, combined with Home Office socials being abhorrent, have been very damaging.

How the right-wing British press became Trump’s trumpet Fleet Street is happy to ignore the real history of transatlantic relations to score points against Keir Starmer

Rather than concentrate on the wildfire war he's just started, Trump is spending his time on the phone with British journalists slagging off Keir Starmer. Their dictation skills turn out to be excellent www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/lab...

Yes, absolutely. Worse still, one of the only ways to tip the balance is to make the problem worse in the short term - adding more peers to the HoL, whose remit is to enable change/reform of HoL. Labour opponents then play dense and attack with "didn't Labour promise to abolish HoL?!"

Exhausting.

The most significant demonstration of how badly Labour's immigration/asylum policies have been developed/communicated - Badenoch has openly said Tories will vote it through Parliament, without Tories losing the plot.

Points to policy and comms that ignore the fact people are at the heart of it.

Keir Starmer is right to stand up to Donald Trump over Iran.

While the brutal Iranian regime should rightly be condemned and international pressure applied, this war is not the right course of action.

🧡 This has to be the funniest Brexit moment yet.

The Brexit-loving brigade spluttering into their cornflakes as they discover The Telegraph has been sold to a German media company.

The irony is spectacular.

And apathetic and detached Trump on how Iran affects the rising gas cost and your life:

β€œIf they rise, they rise. This is by far more important than having gasoline prices go up a little bit.”

β€œI guess Americans should worry about Iran retaliating on US soil like I said some people will die.”

06.03.2026 20:11 πŸ‘ 26 πŸ” 10 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

30,000 Iranians died a month ago, trying to fight for freedom from their dictatorship. Now the US is bombing the s**t out of them.

But sure, it's all about American "struggles". Quick tip - no one cares, we're bored of American drama.

Do something about it, or don't, it's your problem to solve.

07.03.2026 02:50 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Haha, fair point! Of course, he's also betting on being able to continue efforts to convince Europe it's too weak to cope without the US. I'd say that bet won't be paying off and his war with Iran will only decrease Trump's odds of it coming true.

07.03.2026 02:43 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

As for "Why don't you Europeans get around to holding your peeps responsible...", you're just displaying that good ol' American lack of awareness again. Kudos.

Suggestion? Sure, let me give that a go...

1) Pressure Democrats to actually fight Trump, not support him.

2) Protests, maybe, of some meaningful scale? I know, I know, a few of your chanted "no kings", but it's a pathetic effort.

3) Americans have wanged on about the 2nd Amendment for decades...

Anyone in a position of power or influence in Europe, that even has so much of a mention in the Epstein files, has resigned or has been fired. Nice try though.

How about you Americans stop chatting shit at Europeans on social media and actually do something useful towards removing Trump?

07.03.2026 02:27 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

The problem with that theory is the US have dropped 99% of their aid to Ukraine already under Trump. Europe has picked up the slack, Ukraine is still going strong, and has in fact gained ground back from Russia.

The "3 spheres of influence" theory didn't bank on Russia being weak and ineffective.

07.03.2026 02:24 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Trust me, as a member of the world outside of the US, we're all more than aware of Trump's impact globally and we're all affected by it. We don't need help to see it.

In fact, it seems only Americans think they're living under the pressures and catastrophic consequences of Trump's presidency.

07.03.2026 02:15 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, you don't need to patronise me, V for Vendetta is just a film, real life is far different. The point here is that if you want to use email for nefarious purposes, for whatever reason, take appropriate precautions. The point *isn't* that Proton is now the enemy of everyone fighting MAGA/Trump.

07.03.2026 02:01 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

It's not necessarily that Trump "wants China to invade Taiwan" - it's more that if China does invade Taiwan, it further legitimises Trump's disregard of international law and order in his/MAGA's view.

For Trump, the risk of China doing so is a trade off against the risk of them not doing so.

To be clear, I don't work for Proton and I don't have any skin in this game. However, commentary like yours isn't helpful. It's not Proton's fault they have to comply with legal requests, all operating companies have to. It's the fault of the account owner that they didn't take better precautions.
