Chevron is leaving California so it doesnβt have to pay for all of its abandoned wells and oil fields, and possibly to avoid more suits like the one it lost last year where it was ordered to pay tens of millions to a guy who got cancer living atop a mountain of drilling waste they never disclosed.
Here are some highlights from our launch party this weekend!
We were joined by residents and members of CCE to celebrate the launch of Croydon's first solar share offer.

BREAKING: Weβve WON a historic case against the Rosebank & Jackdaw oil & gas fields. π
π NO NEW OIL AND GAS! π£
This is GAME-CHANGING.
And itβs ONLY been possible thanks to YEARS of fighting by THOUSANDS of climate campaigners! Power to the people. β
A bumblebee can only fly for about 40 mins between feeding. These amazing pollinating insects are being hit hard by widespread habitat loss. So each nectar-rich flower you plant in a windowbox or in your garden or community green spaces could be the pit stop that saves a bee π

Been worried about speeding drivers in London recently while walking with my children. Looked online to see what can be done and was shocked to see the number of apps apparently designed to help drivers evade speed cameras! It's like they're helping them to speed ?

How many were injured by cars or other vehicles? For context.
A great guide from @surreycc.gov.uk to advise residents on how to decarbonise their homes. Looks pretty useful for people who don't live in Surrey as well.....

Thanks to the help of so many people, we were able to plant 300 native hedging plants this morning! We're hoping that in a few years there will be a beautiful hedge full of wildlife, screening the busy road.

Today I have deactivated my X account, in a tiny act of protest. I also plan to redouble my personal efforts to protect nature and fight climate change. My circle of influence may be small, but all around me are so many inspirational others. And love has enormous power when we are together βοΈ
So proud of my inspirational sister. This year, she is responsible for planting about 1 million trees in Scotland!
So thanks for sharing this positive article and giving a more balanced view.
Unfortunately, people believe this & say they can't have a heat pump:
"A report commissioned...by the Energy and Utilities Alliance, a trade body that represents gas boiler manufacturers, in partnership with 4 gas network companies, said heat pumps...impractical for up to 54% of British households"

Everyone should listen to this wonderful podcast. It never fails to inspire, inform and motivate me to try harder.

Air pollution, road safety, carbon emissions - all impacted by the number larger, luxury cars increasing.
Right now, there's basically nothing stopping them. No width limit, minimal tax to address their damage, generous car financing. We need action.

HUGE: Great news that with the UK another country is leaving the climate killer treaty! The Energy Charter Treaty is "outdated" + "not supporting (the UK's) transition to cleaner, cheaper energy" says Minister Stuart. I could not agree more. EU Exit now www.politico.eu/article/uk-t...
Great piece, as usual, by CarbonBrief (please let's make them join this place!) about the overwhelming approval rate for climate policies among the public, and how this overwhelming majority is consistently underestimated.
Climate change deniers are a minority.
