I become a Pinus sylvestris
by S. Reeson

this is you calling me insane
and there is no redress from that
as we must attain a normal stage
the proper state as here I grow
as reprobate a slur the smear
of each new branch of my
behaviour and I have stopped

moving and listening with half a
heart no reason to exist with
you in here past the mortal fear
fuelled by poor genetics that one
day will help humanity evolve
away to something more than
useless selfish stupid mad

until that’s life the forest will
embrace me as the daughter that
you never knew how to love
and I will become only wood
you cannot hew carve as yours
the living breathing portion of
an ancestry you cannot make pay

What I can share with confidence is my own work. This is a piece from the @acropolisjournal.bsky.social Project that launched yesterday. This is a #poem I am insanely proud of, and this is what I need to focus on right now.

There is some extraordinary work here, so I'm very glad to have an art/text hybrid (small watercolour + tiny poem) in 'Time as Falling Atoms', an object of wild and complex beauty from Acropolis Journal. Many thanks to Louise Mather for the invitation, and for her sensitive and imaginative curation.

I HEARD MYSELF THROUGH GRAVITY’S HINGE
Linked golden shovels after work by other project participants
 D.W. Baker
1. I HEARD
β€œI was sure I heard howling / but realised it was me”
β€”Claire Marsden, β€œPassage of Time”
Not merely semantic or cognitive dissonance, I
think, but something more physically woven: I was
out of phase. It was hard to be sure,
since my data points are within the realm of I,
but something imperceptible to ears was heard
within my body: incongruence's gap, howling
where my asymptotes grow always closer, but
never meet their shores. It was then I realised
this sonic frequency was the key, and that it
revealed the acoustic shapes of the lockβ€”it was
the quantum-entangled versions of me.

Here is the first of five linked golden shovels, now available as part of the inaugural @acropolisjournal.bsky.social project, Time As Falling Atoms, about differential perceptions of time

I am hugely grateful for your trust and care with my work, for allowing me space to grow, and for championing mental health poetry generally.

It was an absolute pleasure <3

Also, don't just go and read @acropolisjournal.bsky.social for my work, there is a REMARKABLE poem in there by @janeburn.bsky.social that is absolutely worth reading <3
