I just watched 2046 this week after we screened IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (as part of @grfilmsociety.bsky.social) - where can I find a link to this episode? I'd like to give it a listen!
I never expected that Kiarostami had so much to say about promoting good oral hygiene practices!
Part 4 of our podcast series on the early films of Abbas Kiarostami just published! In this episode, @mookse.bsky.social and I discussed six "school films" to conclude our coverage of 17 titles in this collection. criterioncast.com/podcast/ecli...

Thank you! I'm glad to know that you're tuning in!
i've passed up several opportunities to get the Blu-ray upgrade but this looks too good to resist. I have fond memories of our conversation from 10 years ago! But the file is no longer up on the site. I'll have to ask Ryan for a copy. :) criterioncast.com/podcast/crit...
Thanks for the note - I'm really happy to resume the podcast after a 7+ year break and delighted to see that a longtime listener is still tuning in!
The Eclipse Viewer podcast is live again! @peutetre.bsky.social and I recorded the first of our episode covering the newest Eclipse series from @criterion.bsky.social: Abbas KiarostamiβEarly Shorts and Features. open.substack.com/pub/eclipsev...

Here's a 20 minute video I made discussing each of the Criterion Collection spine numbers that end in 00 (in honor of NETWORK (1976), recently announced as Spine 1300). youtu.be/B69VUaj3Z24?...
Stepping briefly out of my Criterion-centric podcasting habits, I had a few things to say about this poignant, heart-wrenching animated Japanese film set in the final days of WWII.
So glad to be revisiting the work of Abbas Kiarostami with my podcasting partner of many years!
First look at the new Abbas Kiarostami box set coming from Criterion as they revive the Eclipse Series. youtu.be/Ho94kFb-D6Q?...
More familiar to Western viewers as "Ornamental Hairpin" - streaming on the Criterion Channel.
The strenuous physicality of so many actors who threw themselves headlong into careening pratfalls throughout the two films is very impressive! The swordplay isn't particularly skillful or elegant, but I enjoyed the vigorous exchanges. It looked like they were having fun while getting bruised up!
Klein and Kirk are partners in the same grifting syndicate.
We'll be working on Dolby Atmos remasters and audiophile vinyl mixes over the summer
Yes indeed, I'm so excited to get our podcast out of hiatus and back into live production! Might have to freshen up some of the old episodes to get them back in circulation but eager to resume our conversation about this fantastic series!
That's a valid assessment of where Black Sabbath was at in 1979. I saw them at the Oakland Coliseum the previous year when Van Halen opened and blew them off the stage. My friends and I walked out halfway through their set because the energy was so flat compared to what we'd just seen.
