Well SOMEONE had to say it!
Every movie made since Metropolis (1927) has just been a big distraction. π€

Desperately shaking my friends by the shoulders, explaining that just because they miss high school doesn't mean they have to fantasize about living in an evil british boarding school.

Batman got The Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Bane, The Riddler etc
I got a giant oompa loompa used car salesman with tiny hands and syphilis, and a black mould infected childrens author.
Congrats!
I'm so excited for the rapture to happen next week or whatever. Imagine what it will do to the housing market
There was a Yatzhee review that mention the story gets slightly more interesting if you imagine the police agent as a time traveler, with all his high-tech gear and paradox sickness

This man is the only reason I have a critical lens for fiction in the first place. I literally can't imagine what it's like being him and having an automated text message as his supervisor.
the face of a YouTuber who makes a living reviewing low budget horror movies forced to say "unalived" in order to not get demonetized
We live in Lordran.
So cool.
If anyone can recommend a book about a community facing an apocalyptic plague (that isn't The Stand, or HBomberGuy's review of Pathologic), do share. <3

Coping with real world catastrophes by subjecting my characters to viscerally worse catastrophes.
Cus, hey, if they can survive an apocalyptic radiation storm with a cobbled together shield generator built into an old clock tower, I can probably find the courage to walk to the grocery store today.
Book 1, you'd almost think my main character is asexual.
Book 2, she starts crushing on EVERYONE.
Many such cases.
Well, I've written several novels. Nothing better to do than fantasize about the soundtracks of their unlikely movie adaptations. π

Am I writing faster than ever because I'm retreating into a fantasy setting I conjured up rather than focusing too hard on the terrifying cataclysm of a reality we live in?
Oh, you bet.

More than anything, I wanted to avoid tropes of "chosen one" heroes who are magical because "it's in their blood" or whatever prophecized nonsense.
I wanted to write about a community struggling to overcome magical catastrophes, and ultimately landed on viewing it through the lens of one character.
Books that inspired my series of novels:
Tiffany Aching, Discworld in general, Dinotopia, The Dispossessed, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Good Omens, the Wizard of Oz.
Video games that inspired my series of novels:
Frostpunk, Pathologic, Book of Hours, Cult Simulator, Myst.

Going through an agent's wish list, and realizing you get to list a dozen of their wishes in your cover letter.
"Yep, it's got tiny fairies. And it's got butch love interests, yep. Lemony Snicketesque humor, yep. Spectrum-coded protagonist, yep. Labor uprisings, you betchya!"

What if I need twelve identically sized Allen wrenches at the same time??
The hell? What type of person doesnβt keep all their Allen wrenches forever???
Thank you! π
Took me a year to write my first novel, and two months to write its sequel, and now I'm partway through its third installment!!
π
Quite proud of myself, I must say.
Thank you! βΊοΈ
I'm sending it out to agents at publishing houses. Maybe I'll get a bite! βΊοΈ
