Yesterday was Holocaust Remembrance Day. Today, I remember Isaak Kling, who was born in 1871 and died in the Holocaust at age 70.
Illuminate is a wonderful project, but as of now, less than 1 million memorial candles are lit. Light one, and carry a name with you today.

Title: My year-end reading statistics. Five diagrams detailing the reading habits of a rather lazy reader.
'My year end reading statistics' (originally for @theguardian.com books).
p.s There's still time to pick up new book Physics for Cats at good bookshops and online www.tomgauld.com/comic-books-v2
Jeff VanderMeer Assoluzione (the Italian translation of Absolution--English-language readers please be grown-ups about it) With a woman's head garlanded with burgundy and blue branches of leaves being held by the hands of someone in a yellow contamination suit.
The Italian cover of Absolution, from my wonderful publisher there, Einaudi. Out next year. Translated by Cristiana Mennella. The artist is Lorenzo Ceccotti and the inspiration here is the biologist's expedition in part 1 of the novel. Just a stunning cover. Amazing.
He's determined, I'll give him that.
Local Idiot Convinced We Are Holding Many Beautiful Women Prisoner Within Our Wretched Fortress
Caption: Every December, the team of marine biologists draw lots to decide who will take Mister Wiggles home with them for the holidays. Image: Five small figures take small pieces of paper from a hat. Behind them a colossal squid waits in an enormous tank set upon a gigantic trolley.
A Christmas cartoon from my new book of science cartoons PHYSICS FOR CATS. In good bookshops and online now: www.tomgauld.com/comic-books-v2

Libby has been such a game changer! Free, really easy to use, and directly benefitting your local library system. 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for an Audible/Kindle alternative.

For #transvisibilityweek have this illustration of the protagonists of my novel project! Scipio is a (trans) master thief, and Nerve is a forgotten god of change that Scipio is indebted to. The thesis? Be gay, do crimes, kiss monsters :3

I always really liked this concept, and I thought it would be a fun measure of how far I've come βΊοΈ This #redraw was also my first time using #risograph techniques to mix color, and the 5 dots up top are the only colors in the whole piece!

A tall, thin man in a dramatically flapping red coat stands backlit against a sky filled with fluffy white clouds. He has spiky blond hair and is holding a chrome revolver next to his head.

Got some new followers, so I'm sharing old art! Hi, I'm Ollie, and I write and draw more slowly than anyone alive :')
The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 66, βListen To Me And I'll Tell You A Story" by Ejiwa "Edge" Ebenebe: In the depths of the sea a little girl sits on what looks to be a giant pink/green octopus tentacle. Several other tentacles extend in the background, curling in the depths. Towards the front and surrounding the little girl is a school of pink fish, some of them stop to listen as she holds one finger up. She looks like she is about to start telling a story. On the lower right corner, another school of fish is making its way over the tentacles, towards the edge of the cover. The quote reads: "The year is 2084, and this is the spot you always come toβjust a walk from UNAMβs Instituto de AstronomΓa but far enough so none of your peers ever bother to trek the long exhale of asphalt to reach youβwhere you can tuck yourself away between the brick walls and slide away from the world, slip into your studies, forget that youβre a person at all."
ICYMI! Reading 2025 fiction?

Text reads: Fed up with your world? Visit ours. Clarkesworldmagazine.com The Clarkesworld robot (center) looks to the right at the cover of Clarkesworld #230, which is in yellow, orange, and brown and features a futuristic cityscape with a small craft approaching. Cover art is "Neo Mars" by Guy Warley.
In light of the astronomical increases for my health insurance next year, I thought it would be a good time to encourage people to subscribe. (A few hundred should cover it. Sigh.)

Frank's Film Review: Frankenstein (2025)
ββββ/5
Guillermo del Toroβs Frankenstein is a remarkable film, with each shot carefully crafted like a master painterβs work, building a world that is beautiful and profoundly sorrowful.

Day one of the TTL end of year reading starts with They Take You As They Find You by @lynorlane.bsky.social. Four youngsters and a non-talking animal in a van, looking into mysteries. Sound familiar? But this story has something different to say about monsters.
Oh woah I'm in this one!! That explains all these new faces lol. @tammykomoff.bsky.social tysm!!
