If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!
That makes sense, but I think there's shorter term and more direct issues to tackle. We can get cheaper energy and a fairer society without saving the whole world in one go. Gradualism is key.

I've been following the internal discussions on reddit, and it seems pretty vibrant and progressive all round - the gender critical clique have thrown a tantrum and left it seems. Feels very far from corporate-captured labour.
Then there's the extra abilities you get from being hidden depending on your faction. Earthfolk have spy teams, hillfolk summon clouds of corvids, and the tricksy bastard fae teleport from hiding spot to hiding spot!

So much of the media and technological environment is designed to make us powerless. We're not even tenants and employees anymore, increasingly we are pressed into becoming user-subscribers to techno-informational systems that yield control of what we are able to think and imagine if we let them.

How about a wizard of earthsea? It's an absolute classic, healing and enfolding and kind, with compelling world building and real magic.
A big point of contention in arguments over AI is just large numbers of people refusing to become aware of humanities, language theory, cognition, understanding of labour processes, etc saying "shut up gadget is shiny" at people who did spend the time getting to know those things.
Mutual Annihilation is not an uncommon choice for players, but there's a ton of nuance in how you try to out-guess your opponent's choices 🙂 #wargames #skirmish
