New paper out today led by superstar PhD candidate Gryphen Goss all about what happened in Antarctica through the Mid-Pleistocene transition as told by Osmium isotopes! π¦πΆπͺ¨ agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10....

π¨Hot off the pressπ¨ @coschoolofmines.bsky.social PhD candidate Wilson Sauthoff leads us in sharing how Antarctic subglacial lake outlines change through time and the biogeochemical impacts of those changes!π¦πΆππ§

Weβve wrapped up drilling at Crary Ice Rise with 228m of sediment core. This is an unprecedented record of the history of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet stretching back millions of years. Initial observations indicate the core includes periods of environmental change during past times of warming.
Considering @scar-antarctic.bsky.social this summer in Oslo? We are soliciting submissions for Session S13: Past, present, and future of Antarctic marine grounded basins. See scar2026.org for meeting details. @polarrobs.bsky.social @deformedearth.bsky.social and more are co-chairs. π§ͺβοΈ
I REALLY enjoyed this one! Excellent paper π
This is why I shouldnβt have internet in the field π«
Night shift viewz with @swais2c.bsky.social!
Our science team are preparing for when we have our first core on deck. Theyβve dug out a pit for cold storage of microbiology samples. The warm science container has been transformed into a lab, ready to X-ray cores and take sediment samples for microbiological analysis.
Itβs a very Crary Christmas for our on-ice team in Antarctica!
After several weeks of weather delays preventing them getting out to our deep-field camp at Crary Ice Rise, on Christmas Eve the team received the best possible present β a Basler flight to Crary! Crary Christmas from SWAIS2C!

Just my 2 cents from the Siple-Gould coast.

Love seeing @anamariecox.bsky.social promoting rezdawg. Support nuggets like ours going to good homes.
Full house for @ericsteig.bsky.socialβs @coloradoscholes.bsky.social Climate Seminar today.
Hey. You. Go work for @deformedearth.bsky.social! π¦πΆ
Always great to see awesome people getting funded to do awesome science π§ͺ big congrats to @adrianerlam.bsky.social, @imogenmireille.bsky.social, and Ruthie Halberstadt! π www.binghamton.edu/news/story/5...
Congratulations Allen!
A person standing on a moraine which is in front of a mountain. The mountain is in East Antarctica, with a small glacier between the mountain and moraine. The person is using a saw to collect a rock sample from the surface of a boulder on top of the moraine.
A photo taken from a mountain in East Antarctica, with moraines and blue ice in the foreground, and the vast East Antarctic Ice Sheet extending to the horizon. Some small mountains (nunataks) are poking out above the surface of the ice sheet at varying distances.
Applications are now open for a Glasgow-based Iapetus DTP project centred on using in situ 14C to study glacier histories in East Antarctica! tinyurl.com/3ddvynn2 @stever60.bsky.social @uofglasgow.bsky.social @iapetusdtp.bsky.social @bas.ac.uk
Cool new paper from Cat Collins and our Greenland lab group. Using CT scans to study frozen soil from below the Greenland Ice Sheet. Open access. Thanks NSF for supporting this research.

Yay Mike!
CONGRATULATIONS to our very own @mikebentley.bsky.social who has been awarded an OBE for his services to Antarctic Science! Mike has not only made an outstanding contribution to polar science, he is also a fantastic colleague and we are all delighted for him! βοΈπ₯³
