The Iranian navy warship's commander refused to allow the crew to abandon Dena despite the imminent threat, the source added.
An Iranian sailor who was killed when the warship Dena was struck by the US near Sri Lanka had called his father shortly beforehand, saying American forces had issued two warnings for the crew to abandon the vessel, a source close to the family told Iran International.
Q: “You worried about gas prices?”
TRUMP: “No. Short excursion.”
Q: “Still projecting up to 6 weeks?”
TRUMP: “Whatever it takes.”
So… not a short excursion then?
Also - whatever it takes… to do what?

There is no 'disarming' such a vessel temporarily. Only at end of life / decommisioning.
There is unstocked. That cannot be seen from outside.
Stocking may take place in hours, also from a supply ship. Such as the other IRIS ship in the area.
So this was a hard, legal target.
In an illegal war.
Unstocked never equals unarmed. Dena had come across a supply vessel, so may well have been restocked.
Also, heading your Iranian frigate to the Gulf signals intent to fight. Otherwise, surrender or stay in port.
This war may well be illigal, but IRIS Dena was as hard a legal target as they come.
Wild.
Ok look. I will put up with a lot from people who have never had experience with military ships but I just saw someone refer to IRIS Dena, which the US callously and probably illegally sank, as "an unarmed ship" and no.

Strenge/degelijke boekhouder me neus.

Als we meer zonnepanelen en windmolens hadden gehad, hadden we nu amper iets gemerkt van de hoge energieprijzen
So a frigate 'unstocked' constitutes 'an unarmed vessel' now?
Even though a mere six hours in port en route might have remedied that situation?
Russia is feeding Iran targeting data on US warships in the Middle East - the same surveillance playbook refined against Ukraine.
The drone partnership that battered Ukrainian cities is now being turned against American positions, with strike precision analysts say Iran can't achieve alone.
DOJ “accidentally” withheld 53 pages of Epstein files tied to Trump. NPR caught it. Now 16 more quietly appear… leaving 37 pages still missing.
Apparently “mistakenly tagged as duplicates” is the DOJ’s new filing system.

The “You leave Russia, we steal your IP and sell it” plan
And remember that many if Russia’s actions that they say are targeted at keeping foreign businesses in Russia actually result in burning bridges and disincentivizes any new investment.
And there seems to be a new development on that front…
Note that Russia frequently pushes the narrative that foreign business are returning with very little actually happening.

Also, subs tend to stay below, for good reason as they are really exposed on the surface.
They rarely engage in search and rescue missions, even less so in wartime.
Except it was a fairly heavily armed naval frigate, with sensors, guns, antiship missiles, torpedoes and an asw helicopter, so objectively a threat and as such a ligitimate target.
Further was seemingly en route back home to the warzone, and therefore also in that respect a threat.
