There's no synth here, only destroyed orchestral instruments. The idea here is to make a "reality breaking down" moment where physical atoms break and the laws of time and space twist and bend through sound design & music.

In this VN track in Eb I'm experimenting mixing both "riffs", which are self-contained and repeated melodic-rhythmic ideas with the famous "waking bass", which is to make the bass walk the countour of a harmonic structure.

You can create dynamic footsteps sound playback using FMOD, that adds realism as opposite to listening to a single footstep sound in-game all the time.

The trick with thinking that game music is only about composing one-shots and loops is that you're missing out a LOT in terms of what dynamic audio can do. Here's an example of what audio automations and fade-in/out can do between two tracks:
