This rant was a long time coming. I have worked hard to create a body of work on Policing and digital in India and hv been trusting and forthcoming with sharing it with everyone. Now, I am not so sure. I hate that this one incident has made me look at everyone with suspicion. And I needed to vent.

Sonavane and Dharmaraj accuse anyone who questions them of being casteist and trans and queerphobic. That is their defense for being A grade stealers who would be no where if they did not have others work to leach from.

Dharmaraj calls themselves a decolonial researcher but guess no one told them that being a Savarna silicon valley privilege kid and stealing work from people located in erstwhile colonies and then calling it their own is exactly what being colonial means.

Dharmaraj came as a student from Harvard asking for my help for BA thesis. I opened my research to them, even introducing them to my respondents, field site and training them for interviews. They turned around and stole my work instead.

This is not Sonavane's first time plagiarising other's work. She has two other public allegations for lifting others' work without credit. While she defines plagiarism as even stealing others "thoughts and ideas", this doesnt work when it comes to accusations against her where she demands "proof".

Finally, Dharmaraj ended the conversation by calling me a transphobe. All the while they applied for funding for this project at multiple places, presented this at RightsCon and Sonavane even presented this as a possible research project for her PhD proposal at Cambridge.
