All that's left of the shrine of St Margaret of Scotland in the grounds of Dunfermline Abbey. The wooden shrine stood on this base of Frosterley marble. It was enclosed within a chapel, both destroyed at the Reformation.

Looking down the river Glaslyn in Beddgelert. A lovely spring day with blue skies. Small properties line each side of the river.

End of today's walk at Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park, Wales and the river Glaslyn. A quick visit to Gelets grave(the village is named after the dog), the faithful dog of Prince Llywelyn and it seemed appropriate. Mine are now both asleep.

Tall, narrow windows reflect the soft daylight, while crenellated walls and a rounded turret hint at centuries of history embedded in its structure.
