A wooden footbridge over a small river in an urban park. The shadows of the wooden fence make a nice pattern on the path.

Two wooden posts, maybe weatherworn telegraph poles cut shorter) with cheery faces painted on them and stick sticking out for noses.

Some pictures from @slowwaysuk.bsky.social route Southport to Burscough #Lancashire. It was such a glorious day that I didn't get grumpy about the long main road section!

All that's left of the shrine of St Margaret of Scotland in the grounds of Dunfermline Abbey. The wooden shrine stood on this base of Frosterley marble. It was enclosed within a chapel, both destroyed at the Reformation.

Looking down the river Glaslyn in Beddgelert. A lovely spring day with blue skies. Small properties line each side of the river.

End of today's walk at Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park, Wales and the river Glaslyn. A quick visit to Gelets grave(the village is named after the dog), the faithful dog of Prince Llywelyn and it seemed appropriate. Mine are now both asleep.

Whimpwell Bay takes its name from the medieval village of Whimpwell, once standing on this stretch of coast. The settlement was abandoned centuries ago and the sea later claimed the site, leaving only its name on the map and these fast-retreating dunes as a reminder. #aerial

An old stone manor rises quietly beneath a pale blue sky, its towers and turrets giving it the appearance of a small fairytale castle. The buildingโ€™s warm, weathered sandstone contrasts beautifully with the cool tones of the early spring landscape. Tall, narrow windows reflect the soft daylight, while crenellated walls and a rounded turret hint at centuries of history embedded in its structure.

In the foreground, a carpet of delicate white snowdrops stretches across the garden, signaling the end of winter and the first breath of spring. Their fragile blooms create a gentle, almost luminous layer against the darker earth and stone. Bare tree branches arch overhead, framing the house like natural lacework, their intricate lines adding depth and quiet drama to the scene.

The atmosphere feels calm and timeless. There is a sense of stillness, as if the building and its surrounding gardens are paused between seasons winter not fully gone, spring not fully arrived. The photograph captures both strength and softness: the enduring solidity of the stone walls and the fleeting beauty of the flowers below.
