Good opportunity to point out a memoir of a giant in our field. Was a great read during grad school. Reminded me that I could be studying geomorphology under very different circumstances: uapress.arizona.edu/book/sand-wi...

I'd love to get/use induction, but I'm one of the people who can hear the high-pitched tone when they're cooking. It makes my skin crawl (like my ultrasonic tanks in the lab).
When is the last time you've seen a faculty job ad for a Quaternary Geologist? Not that it's dead or irrelevant, but it's just doesn't resonate with most folks. We sent out a survey, but there's enough 'old guard' around (I speculate) such that, I think, 60% wanted to keep the name. (2/2
I struggle with GSA. Awesome organization that does great things for students, but I agree QGG is becoming less and less relevant while the geomorphology community is booming. I'm not sure why. When I was on the QGG panel, I really pushed for a name change. (1/2)
