Delighted to share this new paper that outlines the current abundance of the Indus River dolphin in Pakistan, estimated at approx 2000 individuals in 5 populations fragmented by irrigation dams. Amazingly there is an increase in abundance and signs of recovery in this species

Other presentations in the session included a photo-id study of the enigmatic Omuraβs whale (a beautiful creature) and study of the overlap of marine traffic and cetaceans in the SWIO, which highlighted hotspots where speed restrictions or rerouting could reduce impacts.
