This is also an excellent example of how to think critically about our work in psychology as both the social context and scientific environments evolve, so you should read it for that alone if you're not otherwise invested!

Great piece by @marycmurphy.bsky.social on what stereotype threat is (contextual concerns that one will be labeled and judged negatively due to social identities) and isn't (dead). marycmurphy.substack.com/p/the-report...
Amazing!! Congratulations April!!
I was honored by the @psychscience.bsky.social DEI Committee's invitation to help curate this collection of outstanding articles addressing a range of issues related to anti-Black racism. I also couldn't have asked for a more thoughtful and thorough partner in @johnjost.bsky.social. Please share!
I so highly recommend this incredibly thoughtful conversation on progress, grace, persuasion, and strategic thinking. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/o...
I'm grateful for the opportunity to think and write about this at such a big scale, and I hope the frameworks we offer here prove useful to researchers, practitioners, and anyone trying to better understand the world we live in.
Broadly, the chapter covers what race is (and what it isn't), how racism operates, how racial hierarchy shapes people and society, the narratives that maintain (and those that challenge) racial inequality, and how we might think about interventions.
Chapter 26: Race and Racism, written by Jennifer Richeson, Julian Rucker, and me is new in this edition. It was an honor to be asked to write on this important topic with those brilliant, wonderful people. @jaricheson.bsky.social @jruckpsych.bsky.social

I am so delighted to share that this truly momentous amount of work is now out and available - free and online - to anyone! Grateful to these editors for committing to open access, and proud to have played a small part in this big volume. (thread)
Go work with the amazing @ajuaduker.bsky.social, who is hiring a Lab Manager or Research Coordinator at NYU! Cannot emphasize enough how excellent of an opportunity this is!! my.spsp.org/Career-Cente...
Beautiful story on the lives and legacies of Black Panther Cubs: www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...
Structural barriers to unionization are manifold, but what about psychological barriers? Orgs foster identification & commitment among workers, which inhibit interest in unionizing. Exposure to org conflicts & union info reduces workers' perceived alignment with orgs & improves pro-union attitudes.
Not had enough #SPSP2025 yet? Come see me speaking about antecedents of racial group status threat and consequences for democracy in a symposium with the wonderful @mocraig.bsky.social, Daan Scheepers, and @efrenpolipsy.bsky.social at 3:15 today!
It is, quite literally, the moment weβve all been waiting for! Juveria Invitational Tournament incoming.
This finally happened for me yesterday too! Now I have to decide whether to change my starting word or to accept that it will never happen againβ¦
Really looking forward to being part of the marginalia x BC colloquium next week!! And had a lot of fun writing up my bit of the newsletter π
There are many layers here, but I want to comment on one aspect of these findings for now--the editorial board representation. Some will see this and immediately think: we need to get more POC on our boards! I understand that impulse, but encourage you to think a few steps down the game tree 1/n.
Just said goodbye to my account on the other place. Happy to be posting about social/political psychology, women's sports, and trivia exclusively over here now!
This work is so cool!! Delighted to now have a peer-reviewed answer to the question βwhy is my brain like this?β
You love to see it!! Congratulations @jaricheson.bsky.social!
Thank you, Tristan!!
I set one big goal for myself in my Jeopardy game tonight: get some questions wrong.
I felt I played my original game a bit safe, only buzzing when I was 100% sure. Coming back for the second chance competition, I knew I needed to go for more questions, and to shake off the inevitable misses.
Today is the day! Catch me in the Jeopardy Second Chance Competition tonight!!
This is led by Brittany Torrez as part of her incredible dissertation and with LaStarr Hollie and @jaricheson.bsky.social
It extends our work on #racialprogress beliefs to organizational diversity efforts. In particular, it asks what these misperceptions mean for future plans?
Strong agree!! π
Pretty darn delighted to announce that I will be back on the Alex Trebek stage! Getting to play Jeopardy was an absolute dream, and getting to play twice is more than I could have asked for. Catch me in the Second Chance Competition airing 12/28!

Great opportunity to present and hear about work on polarization (broadly!) Check it out - weβd love to see you in New Orleans this winter!
4) I am on the academic job market! Keep an eye out, and feel free but not obligated to send good vibes (and good opportunities) this way!
3) Sage got bigger (and sassier?)!!
