Look how soaked the floorboards are! It was super choppy. It's a shame as well that the pub is on the pretty side of the river because the views to the south bank are ugly.
The pub is a stone's throw from the old Execution Dock, where pirates and smugglers were hanged centuries ago. As a reminder, a symbolic noose hangs just beyond the back balcony.
It was closed off due to the high tide when I visited, but they let me pop my head out to take a photo.

There used to be a huge willow on the left where the stairs are that created a canopy over the beer garden, but it had to be chopped down because it was pulling up the paving, and this place is literally teetering on the edge of the river.

Went to London a couple of weeks ago to throw my mum in the river (it's what she would've wanted), and visited The Prospect of Whitby, a pub on the Thames that is more than twice as old as the U.S.
It's where I set the opening scene of Two Souls & a Pocket Watch, a MM Victorian vampire romance.
