FWIW, we moved our kids out of a high-pressure city environment and back to the rural state where I grew up. So far, they're doing better with a slower pace, fewer immediate choices, and reasonable expectations.

It feels easier to parent them where kids are people, not projects.

We optimized parenting instead of doing the work. We created platforms/apps for our kids, too, to teach them what we couldn't, and now they don't listen to us. Go figure.

I'm a Xennial white woman with 2 degrees, 2 kids, and a deep distrust of the last 25yrs (though I'm grateful for my career). 🙄

Coincidentally, we were also the first round of mommybloggers, and the best thing to come out of that was a broader sense of community...right up until momming online became monetized "influencing."

Then we created platforms and apps that eat up time/attention we could've used to raise our kids.
