the "more tolerant of nonsense" has fried the media's ability to report on him. everything's a horse race but one of the horses is wandering around a hospital (www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhkZ...) ... so they're stuck

truly the soft bigotry of low expectations

there's no way to prevent this, says newspaper when this regularly happens

honestly, is there some sort of weekend at bernie's thing happening w dems, where Republicans are actually speaking on their behalf, just off-screen?

Just insane they always default to comity, even when faced with fascism

In Michigan, two Democrats are generating 2028 buzz Sen. Elissa Slotkin has stepped onto the national stage with a "war plan" against Trump β€” taking a more confrontational approach than Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has.

this would absolutely doom her chances 1000 times over

β€œAt the end of the day, she didn’t sound any better than some of these ultra-conservative people who were demeaning Black and Brown folk on a regular basis,” said Rev. Rodney Sadler, a Bible scholar and longtime community activist in Charlotte. β€œIt felt like a betrayal of the utmost.”

Cunningham’s comments proved so problematic for Sadler that he said he realized that she was β€œno longer worthy of being our representative” and he had to run against her. β€œIt drove me to a point of saying, β€˜She needs to go, and she needs to go now,’” the 58-year-old pastor, who works at Charlotte’s Union Presbyterian Seminary, told Bolts.

this guy challenged a sitting Democratic lawmaker in yesterday's primary, angered by her pro-ICE vote, and he ousted her 70% to 22%.

folks are focusing on the transphobia of it all, but it's just a crazy statement on its face: "without defining what a woman is, fraud cannot be defined" ??

as a contrapositive, that'd mean "If you can define fraud, then you can define what a woman is"

funny how the correct "popularist" take just keeps changing, as organizers/activists do the hard work of actually persuading people

Was thinking of this NYC comparison too last night

Having a strong, unified, and nuanced approach to the various types of Dem voters -- as Mamdani/Lander did -- is a great approach in TX

ICE Surge in Minnesota Hits Meatpacking Towns Operation Metro Surge expanded beyond the Twin Cities metro and chilled economic activity in rural Minnesota meatpacking towns with large immigrant communities.

"Immigrant families are staying home more, or kids are missing school in rural meatpacking towns such as Willmar, Worthington, Pelican Rapids, and Long Prairie."

very true; it's just crazy that ICE will continue on regardless of its popularity because of all its funding

it's a permanent drag on the GOP wherever it appears

has there been anything less politically popular than ICE?

like Trump, it destroys everything it touches yet will keep sticking around regardless

By the way, Democrats have now flipped 27 legislative seats in Trump 2.0.

Republicans are still stuck at zero.

Even in 2017-18, the GOP managed to flip a few. This time, just a goose egg, despite several good chances.

With Dallas early vote now in, Crockett's path to victory looks gone. She needed 80%+ of the vote there to make up for Talarico running up margins in Austin, San Antonio, and the rural + western counties. Only got 60%.
