Dachau opened in March 1933 under the legal fiction of “protective custody.” People were detained without charges, trials, or limits. Courts were sidelined under emergency decrees. Families were separated. The Nazi regime insisted this was lawful, temporary, & necessary for state security.
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.
A leaked DOJ memo obtained by @kenklippenstein.bsky.social reveals an effort to build a list of supposedly "anti-American" groups and individuals, an escalation of the administration's crackdown on dissent. The list targets "not just the left" but "anyone who isn't a Trump supporter," he says.

WOW. The lead plaintiff is a Latino man who's been here legally for 24 years. He was grabbed off the street by plainclothes federal agents who didn't even ASK about his status.
He was detained overnight and only released once a supervisor realized he had been illegally arrested.
Brian Kilmeade just openly endorsed killing homeless people on FOX.
This is a chilling call for state-sanctioned murder of the most vulnerable among us.
Dehumanizing rhetoric like this feeds violence. It cannot be normalized.
