“Business as usual” won’t build a world-class research sector: Green Party responds to Research Ireland’s newly launched strategy | Green Party

Ireland cannot outsource its future to FDI alone. Research Ireland’s long-anticipated strategy does not match the scale of the opportunity that exists in Ireland, nor the urgency, given the ongoing geopolitical disruption

Statement on Rotunda Hospital Remaining in Parnell Square accompanied by an RTÉ headline Government drops plan to move Rotunda to Connolly Hospital

Statement on Rotunda Hospital Remaining in Parnell Square accompanied by an RTÉ headline Government drops plan to move Rotunda to Connolly Hospital

As a board member of the hospital, I welcome the decision by Government to drop the planned relocation of the Rotunda to Connolly hospital. The Rotunda has been at the heart of Dublin City for over 280 years, and is a key part of the inner city's built and social heritage.

Women deserve quality healthcare, in a hospital that is up to the highest standards. A new planning application must be submitted as soon as possible for the critical care unit expansion, so that mothers and new born babies can receive the care they deserve in an appropriate, fit for purpose setting.

Great news! As a board member I’m delighted to see this hospital remain a part of our community, where it has been for literal centuries.

Has he considered not shelving rail projects? Not cutting funding for expansion of public transport could be worth looking at too.

A dark, dramatic political campaign graphic from Green Party NI. The background shows a close-up photograph of Donald Trump in a white USA baseball cap and dark suit, lit in teal-green tones against a near-black background, with a serious, downward expression. In bold white capital letters at the top: “TRUMP’S WAR / NETANYAHU’S WAR / NOT OURS” — with “NOT OURS” in the largest text. To the lower right, in smaller white italic-style text: “A desperate president. A genocidal ally. And a British Prime Minister hiding behind ‘defensive operations’ while British planes fly in a war zone, without a vote, without a mandate, without shame.” The final phrase is in bold. At the bottom centre, the Green Party logo — a stylised leaf above the words “greenparty” in lowercase teal text. Below that, in small white text: “Published & Promoted by Green Party NI, PO Box 369, Bangor, BT20 9FJ.”

320,000 customers weren't able to pay their energy bills last year

When asked why households pay more for energy than data centres, Minister Chambers said our view wasn't supportive of economic growth.

When will Government put the needs of Irish citizens over the interests of big businesses?

So much positivity and unity at today’s protest against the governments SNA plan (or lack thereof). It was inspiring to see so many people come together and to hear from parents, carers, SNAs, and the kids who need them to get through school.

Ireland’s AI committee (somewhat relevant here) asked the main AI giants in for a chat.

Google turned up and engaged.

OpenAI and Microsoft told us to get lost, X didn’t bother responding.

Notable in terms of US multinationals’ attitudes.

(Ireland isn’t Montenegro. HQs are here. It’s relevant.)

Irish Data Protection Commission was asked today in Committee: have you ever taken a GDPR decision on Google?

Answer... No.

Ireland is responsible for supervising Google's data use across the whole EU. It has produced no decisions.

Kudos @sineadgibney.bsky.social for asking the question.

When we look at Epstein Files it feels like we learned nothing from the Me Too movement, we still don't believe women.

In Ireland we have insanely low rates of prosecution for trafficking. It doesn't mean there's no trafficking, it just means the law is not fit for purpose and we are doing enough!

The fact is under the assessment toolkit that the Gov is basing their review on it does not take into account many of the extra duties SNAs go above and beyond to do.

Our message to this Gov is loud and clear, that we need to prioritise SNAs, the work they do rather than make them feel penalised.

The online portal to submit dashcam footage of dangerous driving is delayed again.

The gov cancelled the camera enforcement pilot last year. The draft strategy to roll out camera enforcement around the country has been sitting on Minister @darraghobrientd.bsky.social's desk since May 2025.

There’s still time to check seanadvoter.ie and get registered for the new Seanad Higher Education constituency before the February 26th deadline.

Please don’t assume you’re on the list as voters on the previous NUI and TCD panels were not automatically added to this new register.

I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

The erosion of dance spaces and clubs in our city started before Hoxton.

Saying that what Hoxton is doing is absurd.

Dance Culture IS Culture! We have been fighting for more dance spaces alongside Give Us The Night, No More Hotels & others. We need more spaces, not less!

We welcome the Tánaiste’s reassurance that new laws will not make cycling without a helmet a crime.

While using helmets is important for cyclists, this law would have criminalised cyclists rather than users of high speed motorised bikes, scramblers and scooters, and dangerous drivers.
