Honored to step onto the @ward8woods.bsky.social Board!

Iβm thankful π my paycheck hit before year end, which allowed me to make some year-end donations to organizations I love like @ward8woods.bsky.social, Woodley House, @washlegalclinic.bsky.social, and @streetsensedc.bsky.social. I have less money right now so chose smaller recurring donations.
Today was a glorious volunteers romp along Barnaby Run Park in Oxon Hill. Groups from Maret School School and EY removed more than 5,000 pounds of junk, including 123 tires.

Ward 8 Woods was represented among the ten thousand who march against the federal occupation of DC.
We know a thing or two about "beautication," and this ain't it.
In response to the current assault on DC residents and our local democracy, we are taking the unusual step of canceling this Saturday's Suitland Parkway Volunteer Day.
We encourage all of our supporters to instead join us the We Are DC protest, beginning at 11 am at Malcolm X/Meridian Hill Park.
Ward 8 Woods was proud to sign on to a letter to @mayorbowser.bsky.social this morning condemning the positive sentiments towards the federal intrusion into DC that she expressed at last week's press conference and demanding leaders take a different path- with the people & against Trump.
Last night, Ward 8 Woods hosted our 2nd public board meeting with invited guests from our fellow environmental groups and the community. Thanks to Chekesha from Eatopian Eats for the delicious holistic sustainable food!

Another sea of bottles. The valley below Congress Heights Metro bus loop is a giant trash trap that hasn't been emptied in decades. #bottlebilllnow
