When you’re on a work visa and say, you lose your job, you either find another or go home. YOU DONT HAVE A GANG OF STRANGE MEN THROW YOU IN A VAN AND SEND YOU OUT OF STATE.
Cruelty is the point.
The thing that really gets me about the situation with Rumeysa Ozturk is if her visa was really cancelled, they could have just told her and she would have either reapplied or left. She’d have time to pack and move and say goodbye. It would be upsetting but not traumatic.

I’m obviously joking but in all seriousness, the best teams I’ve worked on have been made up of diverse individuals who brought their own experiences and perspectives that made the final product so much better.
Companies moving away from DEI will be so much worse for it.
-No more vague definitions of what a “reasonable accommodation” is to the company
-Getting back to labels like “The Boys Club”
-No more being reminded that you’re “non technical” despite being asked to participate in a webinar/ presentation/ panel
-No more male colleagues being upset when you hold them accountable because they “speak highly of you!” instead of giving you space to advocate for yourself
The rollback of DEI programs is not without its benefits, including:
-No more shoving the few women and POC to the front of company photos to make it look like diversity is a priority
-No more exciting stats from the People Team like “We’re up to 10% women company-wide, a 50% increase YoY!”
I have said this over and over the last few days: they need to touch the stove. Too many people just don’t believe things until it happens to them. They’d rather risk a third degree burn than a
