I didn't think Iran's Kurdish population in the country would rise up in the support of an invasion. Given what the Americans/Israelis have done to the Kurdish region, I think it's highly unlikely now that the Kurdish separatists are welcomed with open arms. x.com/DanaNawzarAl...

The reality is U.S. pressure pushed Iran out of Western economic and diplomatic systems over and over and over and over again.

Oh, sure. What I also observe is people are used to thinking in rigid blocs (U.S. vs Soviet Union), so they assume every adversary of the U.S. must belong to a rival camp even tho the revolutionary slogan was literally “Neither East nor West.”

There’s no alliance structure where Moscow or Beijing can dictate Iranian policy. Iran makes decisions based on its own strategic interests.

A lot of the “Iran must be controlled by Russia or China” talk in U.S. discourse does come from people whose worldview was shaped by Russiagate and the broader narrative that Russia is secretly orchestrating global politics.

It’s so weird. I guess unless they’re bombing children’s schools three times in a row, they don’t really have anything to brag about.

Reminded me of the 1999 Kosovo War when Serbian forces used fake tanks made of wood, rubber, and painted canvas to soak up NATO bombs. After the war, investigators found that NATO destroyed far fewer real tanks than claimed because many targets were decoys.
